about yesterday's server crash. The OS was running a cron job and it basically bought the server to its knees. We are considering a ram upgrade which might add a little more downtime until the server is put back together, however it's not definite yet. Will keep you folks posted.

well we've decided to get the RAM upgrade to 1 gb (been running ALL mercury sites on this box with 512 mb) so hopefully that should take care of the problem

also in an effort to reduce server load, I've manually turned off "Thread Subscriptions" from the DB, should you choose to enable it, please do so in your USER CP.

yes in order to keep the board from accelerating CPU load when crons are running, I've enabled the "disable board" feature. Hopefully with the RAM upgrade, it'll be gone for good

actually they're gonna dump another stick of 512 MB PC 3200 into this server soon.... I guess anytime tonight to minimize downtime as all I can see in my control panel's status is "Scheduled"
If we continue to grow this way, day's not far that Tom and myself will have to start dropping insane amounts of cash for a dual xeon server.... and that's making me shit bricks
