Re: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Actor Tom Hardy gained 30lbs of solid muscle for his role as the villain Bane in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises.

The character of Bane is an escaped prisoner who becomes "abnormally strong after being pumped full of drugs," according to the movie's director, Christopher Nolan.

In February, Tom Hardy said he goal was to put on 200 pounds before production of the movie started this month. That's 200 pounds in three months! Here he is in the first picture released of him as the villain, Bane, in the Batman movie. He looks huge, (and evil) but unfortunately, we only get a glimpse of his back.
    Damn

I could easily put on 90 kg in three months. Just get me plenty of beer and pizza

Hopefully this will be better than The Dark Knight, which was a huge letdown after I quite enjoyed Batman Begins.

Really? How was Dark Knight a let down?

I only hope Batman stops growling in the movie.

The Dark Knight was a bit overrated. Some great performances, but as a storyline it was a little shallow.

The first half of Batman Begins was simply amazing.

i agree with all that forsure. storyline was indeed limited, but not shallow in terms of themes and depth of real life relevance.

i enjoyed the first half, too. very refreshing in contradistinction with the normal batman setting.

                ---

so stoked for this though. shoudl be bad ass.

yup. 200 lbs. is a big goal with his metabolic rate; a bit unrealistic. 30 lbs. is a killer gain! and it really looks like a quality 30 of pure muscle density, especially here. i bet he had some top notch nut up or shut the fuck up training and health advisory. props to him for the determination

                  A billion times this.

I assume it was the stupid voices ruined the rest of the film for me; hard to enjoy something when you just want the main character to shut up

Hmmm I didn't think Dark Knight's story was 'shallow' (though we're ARE talking about a superhero comic adaptation, latter part of Spiderman 3, THAT was shallow). If I'm not wrong it drew some elements from some of the graphic novels.

                        Agree on the growling.
Really liked Hardy's performance on Inception and looking forward to this, as Batman's Nemesis (in the comic it's Bane who leaves Batman in a wheelchair).

See I kept thinking the final instalment would be about Two Face's revenge. But Bane if comically portrayed correctly should be the end of Batman? I wonder if Robyn would be introduced in this instalment?

It could be Two Face's revenge and Bane just appearing as muscle and he becomes Batman's nemesis in another movie ... the Bane-Batman story will need a movie of its own if it tries to cover anything like the comic's story.
