Hot on the heels of a serious party; no - a colossal throw down; no - a packed out, huge sounding celebration of the 4/4 arts, (one that's culminated in a week long hangover!), Press Play are back. Back in a big way.
Ladies and gentlemen, denizens of club land and sonic marauders of the London night, we are well beyond excited. It's not everyday you get to Press Play with two true superstars of the underground deep house scene, Kruse & Nuernberg!
Straight out of Hamburg, these two have been turning the deep house scene on it's head with releases on a seminal plethora of taste-making labels including Bedrock, OM, NRK, Lazy Days, Noir, Kolour, Dark Energy, King Street, Daub.
Separately, Hamburg based Florian Kruse & Nils N!rnberg have created some of the most interesting deep house around in the past few years, with early highlights including Nils’ “Caught A Glimpse” on 8Bit, and Florian’s “Love Hurts” release on Om Records. Since then, as solo producers, but more importantly together as Kruse & N!rnberg they have climbed closer to the treetop with their unique brand of mouth-watering underground deep house infused with the sharp techhouse elements.
As a first sign of bigger things to come, Nick Warren included their massive ‘An Why E’ on his “Global Underground- Lima”, which somewhat kick-started the K&N machine, and the duo has since then grabbed the attention of some of todays most important underground labels; NRK, Noir Music, Kolour, Je T'aime, Mood Music, Slip’N’Slide as well as Mazi’s Fresh Meat Records and Milton Jackson & Shur-I-Kan’s Dark Energy label, who have all invested in K&N with enough remixes and original productions.
With a brand new studio in Hamburg, a long waiting list for tracks and remixes and with recent brilliant DJ-Sets, these guys have absolutely no reason to slow down, and more tracks and remixes are of course forthcoming.
July 2010 saw the release of the brilliant Kruse & Nuernberg collaboration with DJ Stel, under the name Wiretappeur. “My Real Name Is” was released on John Digweed’s Bedrock label, yet another jewel in the crown for these two proud Hamburgers, and followed shortly after their amazing remix of festival favourites Groove Armadas ‘Paper Romance’ on Om Records. The duo has embraced the deep house scene to the max and has in return been embraced back by the whole deep house community. Releases on labels like NRK, Fred Everything’s Lazy Days (‘Sliced & Chopped EP’), Noir Music and Kolour Recordings, have all contributed to the duo’s success and popularity.
Their single ‘Gone Daft’ on Slip N Slide, featuring a dirty filter-disco remix from legendary DJ Sneak was played by everyone from Mark Knight to Luke Solomon and Jimpster, and forthcoming remixes of Mr.V and Dennis Ferrer over the past year include releases on Milton Jackson’s Dark Energy label; Simple; Mood Music; Dieb Audio; Slip N Slide and MN2S sub label 1-trax and of course their own Save Room Recordings, all subject to the same rigorous quality control and high musical standards.
Superb behind the decks and with a recent string of show-stopping releases under the belt - do not miss out on this rare visit to London's shores! You'll only regret it (and there's nothing sexy about regret!)
Alongside Kruse & Nuernberg, A>D>D are back with their enigmatic blend of quirky underground deep house. After their headturning set at the last Press Play (alongside M.in, Den Ishu, Giom and Leif) these colourful talents are back. With insurmountable energy behind the decks, A>D>D draw in the most hardened crowds.
When they are not in the studio, you can catch them behind the decks at infamous parties like tabula rasa, comfortably numbed, deep rooted and MUAK. They are as entertaining to watch as a pleasure to hear - charismatic, skilled with a phenomenal ear for quality underground sounds.
Iden&tical (Rustar & maclay) have been in the scene for years. Lots of 'em. It goes without saying that they have a real passion for music, and being at the helm was the logical progression. Enjoying individual successes at venues such as Cafe 1001, The Driver, Arcadia, London's infamous Lightbox, 02 Brixton Academy, various boat parties and the Wire in Leeds; a commonality in their sound became clearerand Iden&tical was born.
With these two taking control, expect the speakers to wobble to deep, dubby house heading through to bouncier climbs or delving into techier more minimal territory depending on the direction the crowd lead them. One thing is for certain, heads and party animals will always be kept on their toes... Them dancing toes.
