Clash Music - ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - Gang Colours

Fresh-faced Southampton talent Gang Colours, aka Will Ozanne, provides a trippy journey through ambient urban vibes as the latest addition to the Clash DJ podcast.
Tipped off by rapper Ghostpoet, Gilles Peterson quickly snapped up Gang Colours for his Brownswood label on the strength of just a few tracks of Ozanne’s textured, hazy electronica. The influence of garage on a young Ozanne is also present in his music, but this is refined into a warm, melodic sound, full of experimentation.
Gang Colours’ mix is a fine insight into the psychedelic undertones that characterise his own productions, with the intro – random field noise dictaphone recordings made by Ozanne in Amsterdam – signalling a gently abstract theme. But it’s also a very inviting and listenable selection, featuring Hot Chip, talented new producer Lapalux, hot topic haze hop from Clams Casino and a lush electronic shoegaze number from Scottish songwriter The Pictish Trail.
Soothing, satisfying and intelligent sounds from a fine new producer.
Gang Colours’ ‘In Your Gut Like a Knife’ EP is out now, on Brownswood Recordings.
