A black ops super soldier seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.
This type of story has been done 100x before, but it is directed by Stephen Soderbergh who I like a lot, plus this has a good cast, and the main character is the hot MMA chick.
The buzz this got from the surprise screening at the AFI awards was really, really positive and the few clips I've seen of it show promise. The Hollywood Reporter has an extremely positive review of it, so I'm in.
Good lord this really sucked imo. Lots of hottie Gina running around and away to/from bad guys and getting in a few kickboxing matches is it. Retro film noir type music when wandering around, but dead silence during any scenes where there should be any suspense. I totally get it, but this didn't work. Check The American for a modern lonely noir movie which does work.
I'm not saying I want hyper inducing sickness cut and paste camera editing like Paul Greengrass / Jason Bourne style or I will fall asleep, but this really was boring as fuck. Really disappointed b/c Soderbergh is one of my fav directors.
This was ridiculously bad. How did they even get that cast? It's SO BAD.

Oh. My. God. James absolutely obliterated the island tonight. The last time there was so much destruction, Obi Wan Kenobi had to take a seat on the Falcon after the Death Star said "hi and bye" to Leia's homeworld.
I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.
I liked it for being more of an homage to 70's cold war spy films, but replacing the cold war with the private security sector post 9/11 backdrop. It's nothing hugely flashy, but for me it set out to do what it tried to do.
It kind of reminded me of Kill Bill (female assassin going after her colleagues after being betrayed by them) but with a more restrained hand. Really loved the soundtrack by David Holmes.
I am with everyone on their take of this film...the only enjoyable thing was watching Gina kick some tail and look great doing it. My gf and I both found it to be a major disappointment.
This movie was bad, homage or no. Would Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy be considered a homage? Even if I forgo the acting, you can see a world of a difference in quality.
