    Label: Cadenza Records

    Title: Ethiopias Rise / Bimbam
Artist: Argy / Lee Van Dowski

    A1. // Ethiopia's Rise
    B1. // Bimbam - Binary Alternative Version
    B2. // Bimbam - Original Mix

Making unstoppable waves within the electronic music world over the last few years, Greek artist Argy's expertly produced and hypnotic productions are combined with an innate ability to create seductive and highly strung soundscapes during his DJ performances. An unmissable combination, it is with great pleasure that we welcome Argy for his Cadenza debut alongside Lee Van Dowski for the Ethiopia's Rise / Bimbam EP.

Marching with shoulders back and head held high, Cadenzas newest recruit treads calculatingly between the streaming light shafts and echoing potholes of his latest creation - Ethiopia's Rise. Coaxing us into the fury of the night, its creatures play with hollow synth swoops, metallic sparks and snarling drums. A soundscapethat appears to have been created for wild imaginations and underground basements alike, it is fuelled with mystical suspense and arrogant beats; the depths of Argy's impeccable production skills on display for all to see. Creeping ever forward with rhythmic allure, corners are turned, alleys explored and shadows chased. As the dust settles and the creatures retreat, Ethiopia's Rise and all its chaos descend into a hazy morning memory.

Argy is tag teamed by Lee Van Dowski and Bimbam on the other side. No stranger to the Cadenza outfit, Lee appeared alongside Luciano and Guy Gerber on the Versus Ep in 2009. Here, his original and alternate versions of Bimbam secure his seat as an artist we are proud to have onboard at Cadenza.Bimbams scratchy shakers and dewy key arrangements are merely a teasing intro into the driving beats and bemusingly sexy vocal that follows. Riding high with percussive groove and driving force, a spiralling thread of funk on Bimbam winds further and further, sparks flying ferociously as rhythmic determination pushes faster and harder.

Its impossible not to move to and makes the perfect partner for Van Dowskis Alternate ego on the B2. Flirting with heavy techno kicks and dark stabbing chords, Bimbams Alternate partner screeches with the type of impulsive debauchery and eerie mind trips that Lee Van Dowski has become so frequently praised for.

    Title: Surfers Hymn
    Artist: Panda Bear

Following the 7" release of PANDA BEAR's final single in the series that lead up to the release of his new album TOMBOY, we present the ACTRESS remix the way it was intended – a 12 minute epic remix straight for the summer masses. B-Side marked only with a unique etching of the original 7" artwork.

    7" Release notes :

KOMPAKT is thoroughly honoured to release the final instalment from ANIMAL COLLECTIVE's Noah Lennox aka PANDA BEAR limited 7" series following previous 7" on his own PAW TRACKS, FATCAT and DOMINO as we help him build up to the forthcoming full length TOMBOY on PAW TRACKS due out in April.

SURFERS HYMN eases the mind like the ocean crashing against the beach. In fact, Noah's voice ebbs and flows in harmonious grace with a sample of that very sound while the blissful thump of a bass drum keeps the song together. ACTRESS makes a rare remix appearance with a take on the original - his signature take on tribal thump makes ease in what is the most straight laced dance floor stunner we've heard from him ever. Somewhere found between DJ KOZE and VILLALOBOS we are thoroughly stunned with this remake.

As with the previous releases Scott Mou (of Jane and Other Music fame) does an impeccable job creating the artwork for this release. As with the previous 7" releases this is limited edition and is destined to sell out right away so act quickly!!Released // July 11, 2011
    Format // 12"

    Guardian Review -

Panda Bear Surfer's Hymn (Actress Primitive Patterns Extended Mix) (Kompakt)
You know how, musically, you quite like all that Panda Collective stuff, but the winsome Beach Boys vocals make you want to rip your own arm off? Good news! There's no singing here. Over 12 dogged minutes, Actress – Brit visionary Darren Cunningham – takes Panda Bear into a very dark place. Like a lot of great modern (dub) techno, on an arc from Dettmann to Perc, it conjures serious soul music from an oppressive, relentless mix of beguiling rhythm and sonic decay.

    Label: Ninja Tune
    Title: Watch Me Dance
Artist: Toddla T (with Roots Manuva)

Andrew Weatherall remix of Toddla T's 'Watch Me Dance (with Roots Manuva)', released 1 August 2011 on Ninja Tune. As Toddla T prepares to release his second artist album of the same name, 'Watch Me Dance' is the follow up single to the brilliant 'Take It Back' feat. Shola Ama.

This release does not simply feature Roots Manuva on vocals but is more a collaboration between the two producers. In fact, it was Rodney’s original demo that inspired Toddla to mould it into this very version for his album, naturally with Rodney’s stamp of approval. Continuing work on the demo resulted in Rodney’s own version which will also appear as track two on the single package along with a wealth of remixes including one from Sebastian and the legend that is Andrew Weatherall. The Roots Manuva version will also feature on his fifth studio album, '4everevolution', later in the year.

    Label: RUSH HOUR RECORDINGS

Title: IT'S A CRIME (CARIBOU & HUNEE REMIXES)
    Artist: VIRGO FOUR
    A1. // Caribou Remix
    B1. // Hunee's Go Underground Remix
    B2. // Original Mix
'It's A Crime' is taken from Virgo Four's recently released 'Resurrection' album, which is now available as a single with remixes from none other than Caribou and Hunee.

Caribou reworks 'It's A Crime' into an eight minute epic dance floor bomb. His mix starts out with an intimate vocal groove, reminiscent of his 'Swim' album, but before long it explodes into an monstrous acid driven work out in Daphni style. Bam!

Hunee goes for a more classic approach. A deep, swinging groove which takes us back to the peak days of Chez 'n' Damier. Pure gold!

And then there is the original mix. A Chicago classic that never was, resurrected from the vaults of Virgo Four. Winning!
    Cat no: RH 113-12
    Format: 12 inch / Digital
Release date: Late June / Early July
