All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

please, not again. I still (since the last topic on the superiority of ff) didn't get any convincing arguments that would make me switch from ie.

thanks anyway for the heads up.

not again? that's an ie user kind of answer :P

just skip it, don't read it, keep walking. It's a heads up on an update, not a fight... come on...

I think tabbed browsing and mouse gestures are decent, they make browsing every topic on [ms] simultaneously very easy. Personally I prefer Opera beacuse all the Firefox fanboys are far too annoying.

beto: my 'again' was reffering to the ever praising comments turning this topic into another ie vs ff debate, not the original post - which I feel was totally in place - I need to update my ff too.

<!--- ignore this if you don't want to get into this dabate...

demon: I have been using tabbed browsing in ie for years. Pressing ctrl+N does not differ much from pressing ctrl+T

harry: I don't know where all of you get this famous spyware. It happened to me only once, when I explicitly clicked on an install button on some shitty storage site. I guess you just visit sites you shouldn't...

arielus: don't get me started on this... Psynce did already regret making comments like that...

ubiqe I'm not going to debate this but I'll give you my short story. 1st off I was like you and not willing to give it a try and after hearing about it all over the place I finally caved in and installed it. I'm hooked on the thing. The dropdown search has all of your major search engines and even an ebay and wikipedia search.

Secondly I had to wipe and reinstall my computer not too long ago due to some problems created by an install of VMware. After the reinstall I only used FF. A couple months later I thought I had possibly picked up some spyware. Well I ran spybot and also adaware and both found nothing. If I had used IE I would have certianly picked up a few things within a couple of minutes.

IE can be safe if you adjust the activex settings and scripting settings. However if you run acoss a page using activex and your settings don't allow for it you have to go into the tool options menu and make changes or add the site to your trusted list. With FF you get a notification at the top of the browser saying click to let this run/through.

But really just give it a try and I'm almost certian you won't go back. Besided the Department of Homeland also said to stop using IE. You don't want to support the terrorists do you? (sorry FUD tactic).
