Milo aka Dj Nature-An Englishman in New York…
Miles Mackenzie a.k.a DJ Nature/Milo/Natureboy is one of our most elusive artists. But before the why ?...you have to understand his involvement with music that has unfolded over the past 3 decades. One of the founding members of Bristol’s infamous 80’s ‘Wild Bunch’ sound system. The same crew that went on to form Massive Attack… Never one to jump a musical ship unless it feels right, Miles prefers to do his own thing and in the late 80’s made his move to NYC. The Days are spent setting up a trading company supplying records, fashion, streetwear with his Wife and also DJ back to Japan, and nightfall frequenting the underground house and disco clubs to hear legendary DJ’s Larry Levan @ (The Choice), Louie Vega (Sound Factory Bar) or Tony Humphries (Zanzibar). Miles love that raw early House music helped lead him to begin own early productions under his Natureboy moniker for Black Label NYC and Tomato Records U.K with the Ruff Disco E.P Vol 1 and Necessary Ruffness Vol 1 & 2, personal highlights for Miles came with support of Nature Boy on Tony Humphries legendary early 90’s radio mix shows…remixes followed for Carl Craig/Naomi and with Miles sidestepping musically also in his DJ Milo guise creating the disco break old school cut up classic ‘Return Of The Original Artform. Miles continued to nurture that ‘ DJ Nature’ sound with of some of the most exciting vinyl only releases of the past few years.
Miles gives an unbounding importance to creating a ‘real’ underground sound that all discerning dance floors and DJ’s have to come to need and love. A sound that could take in a sample here or there from his extensive Disco, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop record collection before the producer twists, slows or speeds it up, always capturing and creating only the finest musical grain heard, before injecting new life and a new sound that is so uniquely DJ Nature. A steady flow of some of the most exciting music of the past few years including the (now classic and collectable double packs) on NYC’s reknown leftfield house & Disco label ‘Golf Channel Records’. With one track ‘Destiny Reprise’ licensed to Ministry Of Sound underground disco compilation. The Fwd Ever e.p followed again on Golf Channel and found itself on the playlists of DJ’s such as Harvey, Eddie C, Cottam & Vakula and many others and both releases ended up in numerous Top 10’s, 20s, 50’s worldwide, and let’s not forget his remix work for Japanese label Jazzy Sport Recs and Delusions Of Grandeur records and Groovement Recs to close 2010. With the finishing touches being put to a DJ Nature album both for Golf Channel and Jazzy Sport Records and super exclusive mix cd. Other projects with Bosconi Recs and Herve…The elusive one is about to shine once again…
