Goin to Jamaica in a week.. any suggestions?

Negril, Jamaica for a week! March 12th - 17th

Nothing but smokin some bud
Drinking Red Stripe
and trying to grow dreads.

Other than that.. any suggestions on what I should do.
Any clubs worth going to?
Is Danny Howells or Luke Fair going to be there?
Or is it going to be straight reggae for a week.

any help is appreciated.

I went there about 2 years ago for Spring Break as well - its a blast.

One thing you really should check out is this place called Rick's Cafe (I think that's the name of it) - its this restaurant set on the side of a rock cliff looking over the water. The cafe is about a 20 minute drive from where you'll be staying but there's a booze cruise that leaves from the beach by the hotels and takes you right to the dock. That's the way to do it - you get all you can drink, sail along the coast for a bit and pull into the cove right around sunset. The food at this place is great, there's all sorts of live music and you can even do some cliff diving - great time all around.

There's tons of other random stuff you can do during the week as well, safari rides, trips inland, parasailing ect... Spend the $20 to go snorkeling as well, especially after smoking a bit of Jamaica's finest - they take you to this small coral reef right off the beach, its a pretty cool experience.

As far as the clubs go, don't expect too much other than hip hop. There's 1 room in 1 club that has some semblance of electronica but when i was there it was Sandstorm, I Turn To You and I'm Blue on a constant loop - expect a lot of fiddy cent and Li'l John. Some of the smaller places along the beach have live Reggae going on at all hours and you'll find that random old guy playing Jimmy Buffet outside of Margaritaville.

One tip though - if you're going to bring American cash bring small denominations, avoid $20's. If you try to change a $20 to Jamaican you'll get screwed on the conversion, if you try to pay with a $20 you'll get screwed on the change.

I'd just hit the little pubs, get zooted and listen to some nice REAL reggae. leave the EDM for back home.

Check out Dunn's River Falls..

its the most amazing waterfall.. you get these rubber shoes, and you climb it! Its not a vertical waterfall though ... its more like giant steps, each waist high or so... and it's quite long. Good times!

shaddy place that Jamaica. was there less than a year ago now, Riu Tropical Bay in Negril. got me some bogus skunk at the airport, that gave me the worst headache. flushed it. cost me 50 US. hangin out on the beach was a highlight, until you start gettin bit by the sand mites, so invest in a repellent asap. got 20 smackaroos ripped off from a server, took me 2 days to get it back, but not all of it. missed out on Rick's, but i heard it's the best for sun sets. SCUBA was a good time. ohh, and nothing happens fast, only the driving. enjoy your stay, and welcome to Jamaica mon.
