    Cameras

I know there are some really good photographers on MS (somewhere )... I'd like this thread to be about tips and tricks to getting the best shots possible as well as having a discussion on lens's, etc.

What camera(s) do you use/want? Canon Rebel XS/Canon 5D Mkii

What lens(s) do you want/use? Stock/ I want a lens for taking pictures a few feet from subject, I'm open to suggestions.

It was fun while it lasted...

Not that my response will help you any, I'm just done with DSLRs. They're too bulky to carry and an easy target to get nicked. Granted they have great photos but there are point and shoots that can easily replace the requirements of the DSLR without getting a McDonalds ass in the process. Being a Canon fanboy, the "G" series is the epic pick for me. I can't wait to get the G13 (or the next G) where they improve the processor, enhance the HDR photo performance, and 1080p video. Adding to the fact that you can strap standard Canon lenses to it makes it ProSumer friendly. Slap on the $449 price tag and you're all s

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Yo Florida, maybe you can help me out here

Thinking of getting a Sony a(insert alpha logo here) 5 or a Cannon 50D with the standard 18-50mm lens which comes with it.
Never owned a DSLR, relied on a old school Pentax SLR till today but getting over processing films and the local place which develops just shut down as I was probably their only customer.

So with your advice, what are your thoughts? Also any other recommendations would be great.

Beer is in the post mate...

      Cheers.

        Re: Cameras

I've never owned a 50D but I finally got around to learning everything about my camera the Rebel XS. After learning about all the functions and settings the photos are now coming out even better. I don't use it enough to justify spending more than I did, as I really wanted to just learn about photography and have a good camera to take photos with for my wife and puppy and eventually kids . When I have extra money lying around, I plan on upgrading, but for now I am super happy with my camera. And actually, I learned all the settings after I started this thread and after I had taken 1,000's of photos with it, by just selecting the automatic setting.

I'll post examples of automatic vs. my new settings soon:

Haha sweet. It's amazing how much of a difference the slightest of changes has with your photos.
I'm pretty old school and still believe in the magic of film. There is nothing like being in the dark room high off your face from ammonia, and watching photos come to life.

I'm still in the hunt for something decent but unsure when it comes to DSLR's.

And good luck with all of this:
