    JamesZabiela-NYE@SpaceSydney,2004(.AUdioonProtonRadio)

Just listened to this one.. thx [ms] for posting it.. however I thought this set was extremely boring... is it just me or do others agree? I've been listening to Zabs for a while now and always dig his sets.. but for some reason this one was disappointing.

Anyone having trouble grabbing this set? The server it's on doesnt resume downloads and it's hell slow transfer speeds The download always restarts for me so I've got not much chance of getting it.

to be honest, i've listened to this about 4 times in my car and i'd have to say, compared to the rest of Jz's sets this one was more on the "housey" side... not that i didn't enjoy it. plus you can't really judge a DJ's live recording on an absolute scale, as he has to work with the crowd and respond to it. let me tell you he got VERY creative at Crobar yesterday, throwing down some sick noises, doing his crazy scratching with both hands and everyone loved it!

I suppose that's the main problem with releasing only part of it - what you're hearing is the first third of it, leading up until midnight and just afterwards. There would have been little point in alienating the Renaissance audience with ultra-twisted electro/tech and acid. The guy who warmed up for him (Phil Smart) plays tech house; so it was a very natural progression and James was there throughout that set and led in extremely well.

The final two thirds (unreleased) are much more 'out there' in the more typical JZ style these days, with a bucketload of effects.

Personally I prefer to listen to the stuff he plays in the released part; and I prefer to experience live the stuff he played in the full set.

I really enjoyed the set and found it anything but boring. I love that countdown!
