Bread & Butter with Turmspringer (Get Physical/Berlin)
After the amazing opening party at Basing House with Italoboyz, Bread & Butter comes back with another fine line-up. For this appointment we are happy to welcome the German duo Turmspringer. It is unmistakably realizable, Robert Galic & Tim Brüggemann are deeply rooted in Funk & Soul music. Robert is head of imprint Tonkind and their releases can also be found on the likes of Get Physical, Doxa, Kritik & Leutral. They can also be regularly found rocking the underground clubs of Berlin, including Bar 25.
Their musical taste, backround and not at least their individual vinyl collection made them stick together as DJ and producer team.
In 2001, they met first time behind the desks. Robert just had left London to settle down in Berlin, attracted by Jazzanova, to release his world wide appreciated album "Rhythmic Altered State" on Sonar Kollektiv.
To this point of time, Tim was already rooted into the colorful Rare Funk scene of Berlin. Beside this facts, both have been Inspired by Berlin’s great output of electronic music. For a musical medium in Berlin, this sound and movement could not have been ignored. Once in the studio, having put together their understanding of Funk, Soul, Afro and modern electronic club music, their own sound of a fresh funky minimal Techno was born and got the name “Turmspringer”.
Now, since 2004 the producer and dj team is rooted deeply in the underground of Berlin’s Techno and Minimal House music.By the last years they passed through an authentic development and captured Berlin’s night scene peace by peace. Their fresh and funky, colored sound and their invective positive energy behind the desks and instruments, made them swap quickly from an insider tip to one of Berlin’s most wanted DJ and electronic live acts. This high profile made them get in touch with many other creative and productive people, what lead to the founding of an own label.
In 2005 Robert Galic started “Tonkind”, an individual colored platform for acts, producers and DJs like Skinnerbox, Click I Click, Phonique or Agaric and many others. With this backing platform they established themselves also as party promoters. Their regular circulating label nights and off parties provides not only Tonkind acts to show up but also keep the network with other labels in flow. Colaborations with Bar 25, Up on you, We Are, E-Minor, Hi Freaks or Berlin’s underground queen Bachstelzen are agenda for them.
Although Turmspringer have been playing in several big clubs in Europe, they never missed to come back to their mother’s kitchen to please Berlin’s spoiled electrifying audience. Here they still attend their unique industrial backyard parties and Berlin’s most wanted after-hours. Releases on Get Physical, Doxa, Kritik Records, Leutral Recordings and of course Tonkind shows their ability as producers.
