Cuz he's a leftist GOD of economics! I won't say how full of sh*t I think he is.

Sticking it to the "man" in leisurely style.

Enjoying the fruits of capitalist largesse while simultaneously protesting them in the most striking dichotomous irony.

On the other hand, I did recently see a protestor speaking against the evils of the money-printing engaged by the FED (something KRUGMAN apparently loves), so I think some of these folks have their heads in the right place. The idiots tend to take the spotlight.

      Re: Occupy Portland

Kanye West livin' large wit the gold chain while protesting those who do the same:

Other hypocrite commies like Danny Glover and Susan Sarandon along with racist activists and black plantation evangelists like Al Sharpton really seal the deal. It's times like these I wouldn't mind seeing it all blow up in their faces.

Really, these photos and many more speak louder than words: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-protests.html - sure, it's a skewed source and these individuals don't represent everyone making a stand, but this kind of display does the movement no favors. The so-called 1% in attendance have every right to donate to charity. By attending this event, they are basically saying, "The government can be a better steward of my income than I am capable of being." If they weren't braindead, the thought of throwing more money at the govt. and watching more scams like Solyndra unfold (which also causes the public to be raked DIRECTLY) would be detestable to them.

they're not pissed at the government's malfeasance
they're not pissed at the higher ed's massive inflation of tuition.

Have things changed so dramatically that Obama will have room to dump his biggest campaign contributers overboard? That question will be answered in the coming weeks.

                Re: Occupy Portland

The average American citizen is quickly falling behind their global peers in terms of education levels and many find the topics of economics and finance far too dense to comprehend. So it’s no small accomplishment that the enormous amount of taxpayer bailouts and Fed monetary injections have finally awoken the American middle and lower classes up to the reality of a terribly unbalanced financial system. This awakening is currently represented by the Occupy Wall Street protests. However, lest you think these protests will simply go away once winter sets in, think again. Even if the official Occupy Wall Street protest dissipates in the next few months, the word has gotten out and the message is finding an interested audience that fails to conform to traditional political boundaries.
Repubs vs. Dems: A False Dichotomy

Vote Republican? The Repubs increased debt from around $5.6tr in 2000 to over $10tr by 2008. They also passed the massive social entitlement program Medicare Part D without any mechanism for actually paying the tab. The party of small government and fiscal conservatism you say? Yea, right.

Vote Democrat? The Dems supported the bailout of the banks, the funding of ruinous foreign wars started by the Repubs, the re-nomination of Ben Bernanke as the head of the Fed and appointed to the highest offices of White House influence - the very architects that helped create the global financial disaster we currently face. Summers, Geithner, Rubin and many others have had President Obama’s ear since day 1. You think those guys are advocating a solution which would see the banks actually take write-downs and losses as any other business would have to? Not likely.

Both major parties spend enormous time and money maintaining their own power bases of large, wealthy campaign contributors to try and outspend their competition in the next election. When they win, they serve their campaign contribution masters well with the hopes that this process will be rinse, wash and repeat the next time around. Both parties support no term limits. Both parties support liberal campaign finance laws. Both parties kowtow to Wall Street.

This a bloody fantastic article. Takes many angles and highlights on the relevant prospects.

A part of me sees complete futility of the protests. I've got to refer to a post made by clintlove in a similar thread

These are all things my family and I have worked for our entire lives and will continue to work for the rest of our lives.

All these fucking pussies marching on wall street need to take a bit of advise and go home, clean up, find a job, and work for things they DESIRE. It's no one else's responsibility to give it to them not matter how much money that other person has.

If they can't do that for themselves, they will most definitely be on the other side of the country from where I'll choose to live.
It really isn't that hard. Res0 didn't you also mention that you had to change cities leaving family and friends behind for employment? Why does majority believe: go to college, educate yourself, graduate, and you automatically get a job and you are set for life?
I think the word 'hardship' is a misunderstanding amidst these protesters. I accept the fact since 1913 we've been fucked, and will continue to do so by these corporations till the end of time.

Yeah I moved across the country by myself to get a job which is going to be better for my career. If you are sitting around pissing and moaning that the gov't owes you money or a job and all your skillset involves is flipping burgers, well guess what, you can flip burgers forever, gov't or not. Should they guarantee you a job flipping burgers for live? Hah no way...

Even though there are a lot of young entitled people protesting b/c its cool to take a weekend and feel good about yourself doesn't mean that the gov't and the banks shouldnt get this balls busted for fucking people over.

But I think this honestly might die out once the next major news-cycle comes around which involves alot of people dying, or something dramatic. It will be forgotten about and people will go back home and do what they do. I think most people in the USA aren't so repressed, fucked over, etc like they have been in the middle east lately to see this through for the long run. Half ass it for a while? Sounds very American to me.

There's protests starting up here in Australia too, Day 1 of Occupy Sydney starts today. I just feel like projecting this on the Federal Reserve building where the mass will be occupying:

Yes, come next week the toast of Politics shall be: IRAN.

Hey I have no fucking problem tossing some extra cash to help out those less fortunate. Blame the people who claim 'every dollar i earn in mine and fuck everyone else'. except when it comes their time to end up on welfare the tune changes.
