    BLACKEST EVER BLACK

Blackest Ever Black was founded in London in 2010 with a mind to recovering some of the lost violence and romance in electronic music. Inspired to an extent by the forgotten heroes of industrial, goth and synth wave, but with deep roots in techno, jungle and British soundsystem culture, its goal from the off has been to combine the pensive with the visceral, the futuristic with the atavistic.

With just three releases under its belt so far - including hugely acclaimed EPs from Raime and Tropic of Cancer - Blackest's next offering is a 12" from Regis, his first under that name in ten years. This will be followed by Raime's eagerly awaited third EP in late summer.

    REGIS

Regis is Karl O'Connor: one of techno's major talents and truly original voices. As founder of Downwards, and as a member of Sandwell District and British Murder Boys (R.I.P.), O'Connor has done more than anyone to preserve and advance the industrial aesthetic - and a more fundamental spirit of independence - in contemporary electronic music. In Summer 2011 he will release a new EP, In A Syrian Tongue, via Blackest Ever Black.

    CUT HANDS (live)

Cut Hands is the new solo project from a true icon of the British underground, William Bennett. Bennett founded Whitehouse in 1980, with a mind to creating "the most extreme music ever recorded". They succeeded. The group remained at the forefront of the experimental and noise scenes over the next 27 years, invariably creating controversy and stimulating debate with their choice of violent and sexual subject matter, before eventually disbanding in 2007. A specialist in linguistics and unconscious communication, Bennett now helms the mass hypnosis experimental project, Extralinguistic Sequencing, which premiered at Tate Britain in 2010. For Cut Hands, rhythm is his chosen weapon; on recently released album Afro Noise I - eight years in the making - he utilises vaudou and Central African percussion in radical new ways, generating a sound unrivalled in its physical intensity.

    RAIME

Raime is the London-based duo whose music is at the very core of Blackest Ever Black. Their widely acclaimed debut EP was built around samples from the margins of goth, post-punk and industrial, while follow-up single 'If Anywhere were here he would know where we are' pursued a starker, rhythm-based vision. They count the likes of Aphex Twin, Surgeon and Simon Reynolds among their legion respected admirers, and recently brought their gripping live set to the Sonar festival in Barcelona.

    SECRET SPECIAL GUEST

In addition to the above, there will be a special set from a secret guest artist. His/her identity will not be revealed until the night itself.
