Ipad 1 - 32gig - 3g + wifi

$400.

Based on the specs and price, can someone in the US tell me if this is a good deal? It's barely used, a friend of mine is selling it.

^thanks, I'm going to pass on the $400 ipad 1. I'll get the ipad 2 if I get one, 32gig wireless probably not 3g.

then again.. i suppose iPad 3 will be out next year, don't need to wait too long..

Get 3g. You don't have to get the plan if u don't want to but the ability to spend $20 and use data when you need it is priceless. I regret not getting it.

Personally I don't see the point of 3G. I'd only need internet when near WiFi. Smart phones are for '3G scenarios'

The wifey and myself drive a lot. It's useful to have if you're bored being a passenger and want to catch up on some news, maybe youtube, it's worth it. Or if you're on holiday, go hang out on the beach or by the pool, just good to have so many features available on the ipad.

Granted your smartphone can do just as much as the iPad but if you're getting one anyways, you'd might as well get something that's going to make it more usable. I'd rather downgrade on the size, I ended up with the 64 GB thinking I'd upload a bunch of movies so we can enjoy them when we fly (which I do insane amounts of these days), and I haven't converted / uploaded even ONE movie (music's out of the question).

So yes, get 3G, you can even use internationally.

We're getting one, and doing the same ...downgrade size, but get 3G. With all the cloud computing services, notably icloud, HD space on portable devices isn't going to be a big deal anymore, but i'm going to want to be able to access that data everywhere, ie- 3G.

Retina Scanning & ControlThe one thing about the new IPad that will freak people out is one of the functions of the forward-facing camera and that's the ability to do retina scans. What does this mean? Well, on a very basic level, it means that only a single user can access any IPad if that user sets up the retina scan feature. Turning the IPad on will require the proper retina.
The even bigger thing though, in my opinion, is the retina control feature. This feature allows the user to control a virtual mouse or virtual finger with the user's eye. In other words, users will be able to use the IPad without actually touching the IPad. Basically, wherever you look on the IPad screen, the camera will recognize through the use of constant retina scanning. And just like clicking a mouse, one blink will control some functions while two blinks will control other functions. I've used it and it works amazingly well and is completely intuitive.

USB Adapter? The HDMI one? No I didn't get it. There's NOTHING on the iPad that I don't get via a PC connected to a computer that would make me want to stand next to the TV with the iPad plugged in and get something displayed on the big-screen. EVEN Angry Birds

Don't debate, just go 16gb and save your money. Unless you are extremely motivated, you WONT get around to churning out remuxed copies of your mkvs flix to store on your ipad and you defo wont end up using it as an ipod.

I meant for using it to upload movies, etc... so that there was a USB port, for photos, etc. But you and Jenks have both convinced me to stick with 16gb. Thanks
