I think it's great what he's doing, going out and pushing the edge rather than staying is the same rut forever. I thought Involver brilliant and from what I understand Sasha has a full time staff working on getting indivdual elements of tracks for his library. This opens an ocean of possibilities that simply is not there when mixing vinyls. (not to diminish the 2 turntable paradigm, which is the foundation of this whole culture)

My only concern is that these AJs (Ableton Jockeys) do live mixing as opposed to playing a single wave file and dancing around in the booth as was reported in another thread last week. That is unacceptable, you might as well send a cd and a cardboard cutout to the club while you stay home drinking scotch.

PS- Zabelia's Ableton guest mix was excellent, IMHO one of the better sets I've heard from him

BTW, BT uses Ableton Live too

true, I saw BT about 3 years ago doing a full Ableton Live set.

And as far as Sasha losing the magic? You must have not seen many reviews lately from his recent shows.

Disagree completely, Sasha is in the best form he has been for years, As For Hernan & Kleinenberg, not worthy of even being mentioned in the same sentence as Sasha.

I don't think so, it takes a lot more work and creativity and production knowledge to be able to to do a Live set, and if they are using to just mix tracks, or do like what someone said last week about Gabriel and Dresden playing a pre recorded "live" set, that will for sure take away from their credibility.

i think most of us are using it because its amazing.
its creative and on the fly, really useful and fun to use.

yes and lets not forget how nice it is to put a ton of tracks on your hard drive and only bring around a handfull of records.

Nothing sucks like 50lb record crates... or loosing a 50lb record crate for that matter

a) easier to replace a laptop than 100 records
b) you don't have to check a laptop
c) you can keep your hands on your laptop the entire time

I've been to many of his NY shows. It's just not cutting it FOR ME. All of this is in MY OPINION. For me, Sander and Hernan have been making me dance more than Sasha. I've also been listening to Sasha, too much and for too long. Maybe I'm getting too much of a good thing.
