Day One Festival is the only way to kick off a New Year for fans of real techno. Taking place at the Palacio Vistalegre, Madrid on January 1st 2011, the festival will ensure the day is like no ordinary day, and will excite your eyes and ears with incredible production, sound systems and party atmospheres.
In 2011 the festival saw thousands of people from all over Europe convene on Madrid to start the year at Day One, and they didn’t regret it, with underground sound and out of this world visuals and lights blowing minds left right and centre. This year will be no different with a very special Minus gathering featuring all the key names from Richie Hawtin’s seminal techno label.
As well as the boss himself (aka the peerless Plastikman) there will be live spectaculars from Barem and Gaiser plus a DJ show from Ambivalent – all of whom have helped define Hawtin’s seminal, stripped down and futuristic label with plenty of their own EPs and LPs in the past decade.
Elsewhere there is a back to back return for Desolat boss Loco Dice and Italian minimal master Marco Carola who will play together for four hours after their incredible show last year, as well as sets from Crosstown Rebels’ man of the moment Guti, Cadenza boss and original minimal pioneer Luciano as well as Spaniards Oscar Mulero and Plus 8 man Paco Osuna.
Cadenza fans are in for a real treat as not only will the boss play, but so too are label associates Reboot and Robert Dietz on the featuring ‘No Hit Wonder’ playing one of their loopy, melodic and tech influenced back to back sets. Then it’s Diynamic hero Uner and Desolat’s latest long player star Tini who close out the line up with a special DJ set from Vitalic also on the line-up.
With more news to be unveiled in the coming weeks, there is no doubt Day One is where everyone needs to start their lives at the begining of 2012…
