    DJing Alternatives to Beatport

Does anyone have any feedback on digital download sites other than Beatport?

I have never even attempted using sites like Bleep, Stompy, DJ Downloads, etc.

Let me know if you have had any experience with those OTHER sites. I'd like to know if I should be broadening my horizons a bit after buying 1600+ tracks off of Beatport over the years.

Funny that you should mention that, klangfabrik.

I was SO excited for the "new" beatport site to launch and actually used it to place a couple of orders. However, I found the new site to be evever BUGGIER than the original flash site. WTF?

Since then I have gone back to using the old site at least until they get their ducks in a row on the new site. Boo!

For the life of me I don't understand why the sites can't do simple things like:

          - sort by release date

          - My Beatport -- why the hell are we limited to filtering releases by this week, 2 weeks...7 weeks and then Older? Makes shopping for releases that are over 2 months old a complete hassle.

I sincerely hope their garbage new site is not a result of the complacency of a company that has a stranglehold on the digital dj download market.

            totally agree with you!!
i hate when new designs/updates for websites, applications etc go online which are in fact MUCH worse than the "old" version/homepage

+ a company like beatport should be able to provide a working webdesign for a digital download portal. wtf?!

Why is it easier to get good tracks from ripping groups than it is for you to find them on beatport.

                      Re: Alternatives to Beatport

The new Beatport website have some bugs, but it's the best for me. I really enjoy using the hotkeys to jump over the tracks (other sites don't have this). The worst thing is that you need to roll the site. This really S***S. But is still the best for me. You just need to learn to dig the site. They have almost aaall the tracks you found on the other sites, but sometimes it's not on the top or on the featured. Listen to all the new tracks. You follow the artist and MAINLY the labels you enjoy and you can find LOTS of good stuff.

Otherwise, when I got BOREDPORT, I use some other sites like:
zero-inch.com - Really like this, but the player is in flash, what is not so good.
whatpeopleplay.com - You got some nice stuff here too. A nice player too. I like it.
juno.co.uk - I think it's better than the Juno Download. If you search just for things released on vinyl you got nice stuff too. BUT, the Juno player (both, this and from new juno download player) is some of the worst. BLERGH.

                      That's it!
But the best advice I can give (ok, I'm not the smartest dj): use ONE site. Dig it! It probably releases AMAZING stuff too. Use and abuse all the tools from the site. Using too many sites just make me unfocused.

dont buy off junodownload.. a few times ive been sold vinyl rips, tracks which are being mixed out at the end of the song, mono tracks.. you name it they have done it.

The new Beatport Pro desktop application beta version is now available. Pretty slick interface and an overall vast improvement over the website.
