    Release Notes:

    01. Rendezvous - The Murf (Nick Muir & John Digweed Remix) [Moot Records | GM0435]

Rendezvous follow up the underground hit ?C Sharp? with a slice of smart, leftfield electro in ?The Murf?. Another track from their now eagerly awaited debut album, ?Another Round Please?, the song follows a minimalist pulse that brings to mind the likes of Kraftwerk and Underworld. Followed up with a series of remixes, the track is expected to be a club chart success ? their ties with classic house names only strengthening. Carl Cox has only recently featured the band on a 2CD compilation for Space where he included one of the two remixes he contributed to their last single. This time around, John Digweed and Nick Muir, amongst others, are taking his place with remix duties on side B. The band already have a firm fanbase across Europe, with home videos of the band recording their debut album quickly received over a million views on the band?s YouTube Channel. The band worked on ?The Murf?, and the rest of their forthcoming album, with producer Dave Bascombe (Kylie Minogue, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears). Dave has visited them in their home country and his classic production style leaves an undeniably sleek mark on the band?s recordings. This is undoubtedly a classic sound, the two piece playing the vast majority of instruments on the record themselves live in the studio; yet again fusing the digital with the traditional to great effect. An organic approach to dance music, Hagai and Itai take their cues from not only the electro pioneers but from early progressive rock and chillwave. With UK coverage already in place from key radio and the likes of tastemaker?s bible DJ Mag, Rendezvous? profile is only expected to grow further with ?The Murf?. The band?s debut album, ?Another Round Please? will follow soon after on November 14th

On 7 October, Electronic duo Rendezvous – Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg – follow up their underground hit C Sharp with a slice of smart, leftfield electro in their new single The Murf.
Another track from their now eagerly awaited debut album, Another Round Please, the song has already made headlines before its release – including on CBS news – thanks to a stunning video that has gone viral (clocking up 120,000 views and counting in the space of a couple of weeks). The video, a beautiful piece of work by animator Scott Benson, is about “growing up in the universe” and manages to succinctly tell humanity’s story so far and raise questions about its future, all within the space of a 3 minutes, 40 seconds animation. You can check it out below.

The orignal track itself follows a minimalist pulse and has a charm of its own but where the track really comes alive is the remix of “The Murf” by John Digweed and Nick Muir, which you can check out below.

    02. Antonio Piacquadio - Hold Up (Butch Remix) [Inmotion Music | INM018]

    Artist: Antonio Piacquadio
    Title: Hold Up EP
    Label: Inmotion Music

    Tracklist
    Hold Up - Original Mix
    Hold Up - Butch Remix
Hold Up - Radio Slave Remix Master
Hold Up - Radio Slave Ambulance Remix

    [Ibiza Voice 7/10]

After years of seeming decline, it's refreshing to see the cultural melting pot that is New York firmly back on the global electronic music scene. Names such as Levon Vincent, Fred P and Dj Qu have been doing their bit for some time now, but with the city's crime rates dropping and a more liberal attitude to partying abounding once more, an invigorated crew of Dj's and producers are now cropping up with increasing regularity.

One such individual is Italian-cum-New Yorker Antonio Piacquadio, who marks his return to the city's Inmotion Music via the “Hold Up” EP: an effort that's not lacking in star guests nor undoubted appeal. The title track is simple enough mind, with a groove-laden, percussion filled, slightly tribal feel that seems heavily at odds with that of another New Yorker, namely Mr. Danny Tenaglia.

So while the latter is independently enjoyable, the EP is nonetheless sure to draw most of its attention as a result of its remixes: both of which arrive courtesy from big-hitters from the techno/house hybrid. The first of these - from Cecille mainstay Butch – is typical of the Sankey's resident, as he jettisons practically all else in favour of a catchy bassline and a smattering of luscious piano keys.

In another coup for the label, Radio Slave then adds his own touch, performing a typical manoeuvre by taking no prisoners via his remix - a stirring concoction of subtle, ominous bells and sporadic, tight grooves. As if to emphasise his dedication to the cause, he then provides a second reworking, with the “AmbulanceRemix” indebted to a series of whistles and bubbling beats. It's an inevitable consequence of having such well established names on board that it's the latter pairing for whom most will be originally drawn to here. Regardless, all three producers put in a worthy shift, with Radio Slave in particular doing his utmost, in the process providing us with just another reason to delve deeper in to his Works remixes.

    03. Alex Flatner & Lopazz - This [Poker Flat Recordings | PFR 123]

After their superb release last year with ‚Dinosaurs‘, that came backed with two heavy Paul Woolford mixes, South German stars Alex Flatner & LOPAZZ return to Poker Flat with three new essential cuts.

‚This‘ may sound like a curious title, yet the addictive low-slung, electronic funk within will have you chanting ‚I just wanna love you baby...‘ in no time! Smooth, slinky production comes hand in hand with producers as experienced as this pair!
The mysterious future-disco-funk magic of ‚Hapbee‘ keeps the party stomping as a whole host of vintage gear flavours this cosmic beatdown. Rolling and driving forward with relaxed, summery intent it‘s a seriously positive tune for those smiling, warm feeling moments. An instrumental version is included as exclusive track.

‚It‘s‘ offers a similarly challenging title but musically there is no messing around, with a shaking, simmering slice of modern funk characterised by tonal synth play, percussive splashes and echoed vocal madness - all dripping with funk!

    Released by: Poker Flat Recordings
    Release/catalogue number: pfr123
    Release date: Oct 21, 2011

    04. Tim Wolff - Get Ready (Quince's Stripped Down Reconstruction) [Wolfskuil Records | WOLF 022]

    artist: Tim Wolff
    title: Get Ready

    cat nr.: WOLF022

    format: 12” vinyl & digital
    release date: 31st of october
    file under: Freestyle Techno

    tracks:
    A1 Get Ready
A2 Get Ready (Darko Esser Finally Ready Mix)
B1 Get Ready (Quince’s Stripped Down Reconstruction)

What’s in a name? Well, a lot in Tim Wolff’s case. He returns to the imprint that has a striking resemblance with his last name. And Mr Wolff’s pure, stripped down and uptempo techno productions fit Wolfskuil Records all to well.

Get Ready for uncompromising big room techno. The genre’s popularity is ever growing this day and age. Not surprising as it’s a perfect soundtrack in todays uncertain and detached society.

The title track is a relentless, peak-time monster tune. Old school piano stabs are accompanied by an enflamed speech, pounding rhythms and a huge breakdown. Get Ready reminds us of Dave Clarke’s 90’s classics. No wonder the man himself played this tune several times on his White Noise radio show already.

On remix duties are Dutch studio wunderkind Quince and Wolfskuil label boss Darko Esser. Quince delivered a stripped down, dubbed out funkcersize that’s as much a deep hypnotic excursion as a prime time secret weapon. A long build gets an unexpected turn when the break kicks in. Quince uses all the tricks he has up his sleeve to turn sounds inside out before the kick drops back in
    .
Darko Esser’s interpretation is the moodiest one of the lot. The piano stabs from the original form a foundation for funk fuelled techno grooves. In turn the speech-sample is draped in melancholic strings, which emphasise the emotional content of the spoken words extensively. Are you ready for this?

    05. Slam - Eterna (Radio Slave Remix) (Slam Remixed Pt 3) [Soma Quality Recordings | Soma 323d]

    [specialhousinassociation. Review]

Ignorance is bliss they say. When Slam were busy creating Techno milestones with Eterna and Positive Education, I was far too concerned with battling divas and emphatic organ solos to even consider the relentless thump of a dingy warehouse. However, I do have the advantage somewhat when considering a package like this, no feelings of sacrilege or heresy. This is mainly due to the fact that this is a track that I know of more in terms of name and legacy rather than for its actual sonic contents and personal impact (and I know that Stuart is now probably preparing to delete me from the site for this admission). Those concerned that their memories are going to be sullied can take comfort at the extremely experienced hands of Radio Slave and Sebo K taking control.

Staying true to form, Radio Slave delivers an eleven minute tease workout concentrating on the tribal beats of the original. Latino percussion bordering on the Chilean Techno sound, echoing fx and distant, constant one-chord pads, unfold ever so gradually over the duration. A builder not a destroyer, where every drop of 4/4 kick and additional layer of fx and percussion becomes the emphatic exclamation marks of the track.

Sebo K opts to add to the growing love of all sounds past and, if it wasn’t for the quality of production, could quite easily have been a remix pulled directly from the initial era of release. The synths from the original feel warmer and deeper as they wash over a classic House bassline organ.

Neither remix are quite as direct and upfront as the original, but in these times where BPMs are lowering and moods are deepening, overly brash fit for purpose Tech House workouts feel so uncivilised. Recommended, regardless of heritage.

    06. Simone Fedi - Bitter Devotion (Ewan Pearson Extended Remix) [Eskimo Recordings | 541416504621]

Italian producer Simone Fedi, hailing from Tuscany, takes things to a whole new level on this third release on Eskimo Recordings. 'Bitter Devotion' is a vocal pop gem with a Balearic tinge, but its bittersweet vocals and the addictive melody will haunt you. For this tune Fedi, a multi-instrumentalist with a knack for pop music and a soft spot for vintage gear, joined forces with a mysterious singer named Lola Rent, and this turns out to be a winning team. Bitter Devotion comes with a rather spectacular remix package; Ewan Pearson (known from his remix work for Goldfrapp, Chemical Brothers, Hot Chip, Moby, Franz Ferdinand and Depeche Mode to name a few) gave it the royal treatment. As an additional treat, Welcome Stranger aka Thomas Bullock (Rub 'n Tug, Laughing Light of Plenty, Map of Africa, Whatever We Want records) has indulged in a psychedelic 'Bitter Devotion' dub, analogue and live... just the way we like it.

Release date: 10th of october 2011

    07. Anja Schneider - Rio Bravo (Hello Boy! EP) [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE 085]

Having once said that daily life as well as adventurous trips across the globe were the source of her inspiration when making music, it’s obvious which recent event in the world of Anja Schneider formed the basis of her new EP on mobilee records. Whilst she takes a well earned pause and enjoys a very new lease of life, ‚Hello Boy!’ will hit the stores in October.

For this release, she joined Lee Jones in the studio to make something with a twist. With a strong Anja Schneider flavour, title track ‚Hello Boy!’ cleverly transposes a real sense of excitement and waiting on to the dance floor, with soft mysterious chords and a steady build that works itself into a drop. ‚Rio Bravo’ offers a relief with more of an airy head-spinning feel and ‚Let Me Out’.........well, it’s done now

    Released by: mobilee records
    Release/catalogue number: mobilee085
    Release date: Oct 10, 2011

    08. Terje Saether - Scared feat. Malin Pettersen (Freska & Daniel Kyo's Darkroom Dub) [Darkroom Dubs | DRDLTD006]

You can always tell when the Norwegian’s are in the house. Deep, moody, atmospheric, lovely vocals all glazed with a wintery touch and sparkle. The very same can be said for the Darkroom Dubs debut from, Terje Saether.

The relatively unknown Oslo based producer is about to make a name for himself with the gorgeously spooky tech-house sounds of “Scared.” A deep synth groove delivers us to the break where we are bathed in the sultry vocal of, Malin Pettersen.

A key track for DRD label chief’s Silicone Soul, “Scared” has been treated to a wealth of remixes. Not only are we treated to the tougher, dubby, glitched techno workouts of Freska & Dani Kyo, Nadja Lind and Klartraum, but we are also presented with a stunning mix from label newbie Gregorythyme and a quite unbelievable magnum opus from Terje’s compatriot’s, Of Norway. At 24 mins she’s an epic, but you simply MUST take the time to listen… stunning!

    Feedback:

Rodriguez Jr - Very nice music here. I love the vocals! Original, Gregorythyme and ‘Of Norway’ stunning version for me.
AFFKT – Wow! What a super package! Freska & Daniel Kyo’s my fav.
Monika Kruse – Of Norway Version is BEAUTIFUL!
Nick Warren – Wonderful pack of mixes. Full of highlights, Gregorythyme, F&D plus a killer mix by Of Norway. Another winner from the Dubs camp.
Kiki – Lots of good mixes here, but it’s the original for me! And a big thumbs up for Of Norway’s epic effort! Could be very handy if there’s a need to go to the loo while playing a long set.

    09. Henry Saiz - La Marea (Dosem Remix) [Bedrock Records | Bed100R]

John Digweed’s Bedrock Records recently celebrated a milestone 100th single release in superb style with two of the best tracks that you could hear this year, from two of the most creative young producers in the electronic dance scene– Guy J and Henry Saiz. Now it’s time to continue the celebrations with two of the best remixes you will hear this year from the mighty Eric Prydz and one of the hottest rising stars of 2011, Spain’s Dosem.

In this day and age to not only survive as an independent label, but also to flourish and constantly evolve, bringing forward new and exciting talent, is something that should be applauded. A mark of the global respect and love that Bedrock has steadily gained through years of releasing quality dance music that rides the waves of trends and fashions is the fact that the Bed100R remixes received over 20,000 listens on Soundcloud by word of mouth before they were even announced! So, it is hardly surprising that this remix package is currently one of the most highly anticipated releases of the moment and quite rightly so, since it features two absolutely stunning reworks of the amazing original tracks.

Sweden’s superstar Eric Prydz, in his Pryda guise, proves he is worthy of the acclaim and respect he receives worldwide as he takes apart and re-designs Guy J and Henry Saiz’s joyously beautiful “Meridian”, creating a truly astonishing anthemic remix that will surely prove to be one of the musical highlights of 2011?
Catalan producer and DJ Marc Dosem is unquestionably one of the hottest rising stars in the electronic dance scene. His bold debut album, “Parallel” (Sino), was released to much critical acclaim in the summer of 2011, further cementing growing respect, having already unleashed massive tunes such as “Silent Drop” and “Beach Kisses”. His unrivalled ability to harness glistening melodies, taking listeners on a trip through wondrous realms of emotion, make Dosem the ideal candidate to rework his fellow countryman’s extraordinary “La Marea” and his mind-blowing remix is one of the best you will hear for a long time to come.

Once again, its hats off the Bedrock for raising the bar even higher with these exceptional remixes, the mark of a truly exceptional independent dance music label.
    sigpicSimonR

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
