The fourth release from New York label Get Up Recordingscomes from the Italian-born/London-based duo Hyena Stomp. Hyena Stomp consists of Severino from the Horse Meat Disco DJ collective and Nico De Ceglia, Pete Tong’s right-hand-man for his legendary show on BBC Radio 1. Sharing a wide range of inspirations from Kraftwerk to Apparat via Prince, from the Detroit sound to the cosmic and Afro ones, Hyena Stomp is a prime example of the diverse musical appetite shared by the two Italians. Remixes for the likes of Tevo Howard & Tracey Thorn, DJ Hell, and The 2 Bears as well as original releases on Rebirth Records have led to this latest single, the big room (hyena-) stomper "Running." Solid, insistent house rhythms provide the backbone for a flurry of staccato synth pads, distant vocal drops, a rumbling low end, and a couple of dramatic floor-approved breakdowns. Remix duties have been assigned to another Italian duo, Emanuele Esposito & Leonardo GloVibes, who deliver a more percussive tech-house take filled with sweeps, booming bass, and pure after-hours power within its huge sound.
Get Up Recordings was founded by New York production duo House of Stank with an ethos to give artists the freedom to break their own boundaries. The label’s aim is to produce quality dance music with reliable consistency that centers on jack, tech, and acid beats.
