It's my favoritist venue of all time, and the last time I saw diggers there (last September with Desyn) could've been my favorite performance of his ever.
I have a feeling hypoluxaa is going to hate on him, but let's hope esef give a less biased opinion
I was at the Mayan last night. Honestly, it was nothing really special. Not the violent type of house i'm used hearing from JD on a wed.night. The show last september was much better, so dont feel bad if you missed out. But it was still a memorable night with some quality tunes.

He is here tonight (Seattle). I hope he does a better job than what your saying.

That's too bad Evil Digweed didn't show up. I do miss seeing Digweed at the Mayan though. What a great venue. I can only settle at seeing Digweed at Ruby Skye nowaday. Blah!

here's my take on the evening:
we rolled in about 11PM, the line was sooper quick, unlike times past. ran into board member DJ BK (looking ravishing as ever) and the grabbed the tailend of Luke's set. the crowd wasn't as densely packed as times before, which i prefer, but was it a sign of things to come...?
i didn't like how JD let Luke's last song run out before he started his set. 'John, we all know who you are, we're all there to see you, no need to make a bigger deal out of it.' the lights were off, and this first track started at the absolute beginning so you could hear each layer build and build and build.
JD started and his tempo was what felt like 3/4 speed of what a historically pounding set from him sounds like. he had a dramatic build up, peppered with some bass, but it wasn't til about 35/45 min into the set that the heavy shit started dropping. in retrospect, it would have been cool to have somekinda sound recorder on me to rec track clips from the evening, cause there were some WICKED tracks dropped. the first track that got things chuggin' was all instrumental (i hadn't heard it b4) followed by a track i can't name but with a vocal "it is what is it, what it is, what it is.'
this went on for awhile, pretty even tempo with marginal energy build up. around 1:45 things were chuggin along, some nasty tracks were dropped but this was still not what you would have heard 2/3 year ago at the GU LA release show, this was Digweed V 2.0, his new direction in music.
we rolled out about 3am and the place was at 60% capacity by then. prob would have stayed longer had the enegy level been higher.
i come away from the show neutral
it was nice to hear the 'new' JD live and direct, but it didn't set the world on fire for me.
saw a handful of peeps i knew, but not like the old Wednesday nights when the the regulars would make it out in force.

he has all night and always plays a bit heavier in NYC
I really havent heard evil JD in NYC in a long time. That Digweed has been in LA for the last couple of years but i think that evil JD is no longer with us. THe last sighting of him was september 1, 2004

Just so you know I've traveled to England and Spain to see him over 6 times. "Hate on him" is not something that I like hearing from anyone, especially someone like you... a complete stranger that doesn't even know me. I've never said he sucks. I've just said I hate ELECTRO and I don't like the fact that someone who I thought could never play crappy music (my opinion) was actually playing shite music. I've gone to every mayan show and ALL of his NYE's in L.A. 2 Bedrock birthdays, and countless other times.. So please, don't say that "I'm hating" on Diggers, this isn't a rap board.
