      Release Notes:

      01. Maceo Plex - Stay High Baby (High & Sexy EP) [Ellum Audio | ELL001]

      Artist // Maceo Plex
Title // High & Sexy EP

The unstoppable force that is Maceo Plex launches new label Ellum Audio with the flawless 'High & Sexy EP', two cuts of criminally seductive house music, immersed in moody soul, brooding funk and made to be together.

Maceo has decided it was time to follow in the steps of his Crosstown Rebels comrades and launch an imprint to further represent his signature sexy dark house sound. By calling the label Ellum Audio, Maceo is paying a fitting tribute to Deep Ellum, the name of an underground arts district in Dallas that greatly influenced Maceo's early career.

The 'High & Sexy EP', Maceo's first output on the label, is every bit as sexy and groovy as his other musical works and has been eloquently described by long time friend and fellow Miami expat, Danny Daze, as being "new wave house".

Brandishing deep and dark alluring soul, A-side 'Stay High Baby' is undoubtedly one of Maceo's sexiest tunes yet. With trademark raw emotion, funk guitar licks and penetrating layers of vox in full affect, 'Stay High Baby' is an ode to frisky liaisons on the dancefloor.

On the flip 'Ain't That Love' packs a bit more punch in the drums but still exhibits Maceo's signature warm, dark bass and sexy groove. Again Maceo's unique composition awakens raw energy and drama through the distinctive vocals and cinematic synths without forsaking the groove. Haunting and beautiful with notes of sadness, love and loss, 'Ain't That Love' will hypnotise Maceo lovers worldwide.

With a first release of this calibre and style, Ellum Audio is already shaping up as a home for future classics of the "new wave".

      Released by: Ellum Audio
      Release/catalogue number: ELL001

      02. Sirenize - Empty Your Mind [Unsigned]

Sirenize is the latest project involving legendary Rowan Blades (famously one half of Breeder, making music from the heavens for John Digweed and Sasha to test that legendary Phazon sound system at Twilo) and rising star Dennis White (aka Thermal Bear) - these two combined their talents to form Rowdent, with releases for likes of Bedrock.

Rowan has strong ties to South America, basing himself there for part of the year and testing his sound at the likes of Pacha & Bahrein. Dennis has had remixes under Thermalbear for Traum and was hand picked by Sasha as part the the selective collective invited to an ibizan hacienda for electronic materclasses following top notch remixes of 'Cut Me Down' for the Burn Studios competition. http://burn-studios.com/track/therma...albear_rethink

      http://soundcloud.com/thermalbear

It's great to see Mr Blades and Mr T Bear back with a bang in a combined new vision, under exciting new project 'Sirenize'. 2012 promises to be big year, as Sirenize already has music signed to none other than Sasha's hot new label, Last Night On Earth.

These guys never compromise with their music, always staying true to the underground with a strict artistic ethos & integrity that is refreshing in times of overly manufactured music - an old school mentality bringing us electronic soundscapes for the here & now.

South American fans get the chance to hear Sirenize at Warung Carnival in 2012 with Jamie Jones and Lee Foss.

      03. JOSEL – Is This The End For Us [unsigned]

Hailing from Agrínion in Greece, Ioannis Selimas (aka Josel) is a UK based producer, making music under the names of JOSEL as well as THE MELANCHOLIST.

      04. Applescal – Mr Cold (El Diablo EP) [RTFKT.net | RTFKT 01]

      Artist // Applescal
      Title // El Diablo EP

      Tracks:

      1. El Diablo

      2. Mr Cold

      3. No Offence

Pascal Terstappen (aka Applescal) was born in '87. Released two albums at the age of 22 and several of records on Traum Schallplatten and the infamous imprint Manual Music. Remixed artists like Extrawelt, Ricardo Tobar and Nick Warren. Won 'De Grote Prijs Van Nederland' as Dutch upcoming producer of the year, 2008. Licensed a track for Universal's CSI in 2010. Contributor on rtfkt.net since 2011.

It has been quite the three years for Applescal. After winning the biggest dance award in Holland he got himself a record deal with cologne’s Traum label, released 2 albums, made a couple of remixes (including, among others, Max Cooper, Extrawelt and Nick Warren) and played all over Europe. Now it is no secret that Pascal has a close affinity with RTFKT but that does not make us less proud to have our first RTFKT release created by this long-haired youngster. And what a release it is! Featuring tracks like El Diablo, Mr Cold and the so far unheard ‘No Offence’, this EP strays from the sounds we're used to hearing from him, clearly but confidently steering himself into a new and exciting direction.

We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do! And best of all: it’s free!

      05. John Digweed – Warung Beach (Kiki Remix) [Bedrock Records | BEDCLASS7]

      Artist // Various
Album // Bedrock Classics Series 7
      Label // Bedrock Records
      Catalog# // bedclass7

This 2006 track was originally release as an A-side from the Warung Beach Remixes EP [Bed65R] with Lützenkirchen's re-rub on the flipside. The Kiki remix has recently received a digital release as part of the Bedrock Classic Series:

"As Bedrock are now celebrating their 13th year and about to release the 100th release on the label they are currently putting together a Bedrock Records Classic series of digital releases featuring some of the best releases and mixes from the past 13 years. Many of these could be seen as the labels classic and most highly regarded releases and no doubt many new fans to Bedrock may have missed some of these great releases that have made Bedrock Records the esteemed and prestigious label it is today. We are putting together a package of 10 tracks/remixes from each of the 13 years at a highly discounted price to celebrate the labels history and showcase the wealth of catalogue Bedrock Records has to offer."

      RA [Resident Adviser Review 4/5]

After the very solid original and Mashtronic remixes of 'Warung Beach' by John Digweed, the Bedrock imprint turn to Europe, namely Finland and Germany to provide the remixes in a release that is sure to be a big anthem in 2006.

Kiki from Finland gets involved with a remix that is quite simply addictive. Kiki's effort lacks any peaks or dips, but it travels along with a groovy set of drums and bouncy melody, yet has a distinct evil flavour thanks to the main riff. It’s a superb reworking by a producer that continually impresses.

The Lützenkirchen remix isn’t as forgiving as the a-side; it's a distinctly more peak time anthem full of twists and turns thanks to its warped out riffs and melodic pads. Used to great effect on John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ mix, and it is easy to see why this track was loved by John.

Two very good remixes here, with the Kiki mix being the highlight of the package.

      06. Navar – Loved Ones [Klopfgeist | Promo]

Eelko Navar is from Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.

      http://soundcloud.com/navarmuzik/tracks

Navar, whose civic name is Eelko Wijnja can be best described as a real “studio Junky”. At the age of only 13, this youngster from Friesland discovered Fruityloops (FL studio) and since that, music makes a big part of his life.

Navar is inspired by a broad range of different genres. This is also reflected in his music. His music can be best described as deep, melodic and definitely danceable. His last releases on ‘’Klopfgeist’’ get support from artists such as Pole Folder, Eelke Kleijn, Fransesco Pico and many more.

Recently his track “Verbeeldingskracht” (Faculty of imagination) was released which precisely approved his imagination and creativity. With an exciting remix from the well-known “king of house” Boris Werner” Navar definitely made it into the picture! However, his daily life as a cook and producer makes a good combination. Nevertheless, we assume that his toque will be replaced soon by headphones.

Navar is standing at the beginning of his musically journey without an end in sight…

      07. Fady Ferraye – An Aquarian Exposition (Marcelo Vasami Remix) [Per-vurt Records | unreleased]

"An Aquarian Exposition", interesting EP title with extremely high class sound. Fady Ferraye, the influential figure behind G-Mohris musical journey, presents an amazing progressive original with his own touch of orgasmic twists, spacey melodies, and unique overall vibe. On PV-037 comes a great remix from Martin Etchegaray who has recently been delivering his best on Per-vurt Records. Another remix comes from the big room progressive and techno cook Hypnotic Duo, and last comes a very special techy remix with a touch of dubstep from Nick Hogendoorn who completely redirected the original !

Per-vurt Records // Beirut

Marcelo Vasami's interest in electronic music dates back to his adolescence, mainly by listening to house music. Born in 1984, djing came as second nature to him and soon enough so was producing. First, by playing in private parties for friends. Then, more and more often in bars and clubs all over Argentina. So far, he has shared booth with international talented djs such as Pole Folder, Naveen G, Neil Quigley, Osamu M, Martin Garcia, Soundexile, D-Nox, and many others.

If you check out his name on digital music stores, you will find dozens of releases on high quality labels: Replug Records, Afterglow Records, Stripped Recordings, Polytechnics Recordings, Frisky Records, Toes In The Sand Recordings, Off Side Recordings, Acute Recordings, Jetlag Records, Progrezo Records, In4mation Records, just to name a few.

Vasami’s productions speak for its own. Groove, dark progressive beats and gloomy sounds are a constant feature in his sets. You can check his radio show every 3rd Friday of every month on Frisky Radio http://www.friskyradio.com

      08. Liz Cirelli & Minski – Trip Of The Dolphin [Natura Sonoris | Promo]

Minski has developed a passionate and soulful style of music melding his classical training as a violinist with electronic dance music. Minski's collaboration with Liz Cirelli has produced two EP's:

SHIVER a 3-track EP came out on Henry Saiz’s Natura Sonoris imprint and has already caught the attention of Hernan Cattaneo, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Digweed & Nick Warren, with Cattaneo placing the title track of the EP, Shiver, at no.4 in his December 2009 charts.

ZUKRAVAARA their second EP was released on the Mirabilis label and is getting huge support from Mark Knight, Jody Wisternoff, Anil Chawla, Amin Golestan and more.

Trip of the Dolphin is featured on Henry Saiz's Balance compilation and an third EP will be released later in the year on Natura Sonoris label. Minski also featured on Cora Novoa's recently released album.

      09. Graziano Raffa & Alberto Blanco – Weekend Heroes (Mati Vila's Weekend Mix) [unsigned]

Born in the mid 80’s in Sicily (and moved to Barcelona in 2011), in a context where the concept of underground was slow to take off, Graziano Raffa has always followed the values that electronic music has sent to millions of young people through the world, becoming a flagship of the underground in its territory. He started early to visit the best Italian and foreign clubs and festivals to know the rules of the dancefloor and to be able to see up closer the best DJs on the planet.

Encouraged by the feedback of historical Italian artists like Joy Kitikonti and Sandro Vibot, who were the first to give him the opportunity to land at the world of music production, Graziano continued experimenting and defining his own style, finding in techno his natural attitude. He began to put itself first as a producer and then as a DJ, trying to bring in his sets the results of the "lessons" received during the hours spent in front of the sound system of clubs such as Jaiss and Old River Park , two temples of techno music in Italy. Over time he shapes his sound, characterizing himself as a global style artist.

He likes to be a DJ who offers electronic music, breaking down the barrier of genre label. It’s not uncommon to hear during his sessions a set of sounds, while maintaining the energy of techno, but reveal old school atmospheres, influences from house music and darker and deeper progressive.

Weekend Heroes is made in Barcelona, with the support of fellow residents Alberto Blanco and Mati Vila.
