              01. Odd Parents - Fame (Catz N Dogz & Martin Dawson Sweet Saturday Remix) [Ellum Audio | ELL 003]

              Artist // ODD PARENTS

Title // Fame EP

The third release on Maceo Plex/ Maetrik's hot new record label.

Only a few releases in, Ellum Audio is already becoming a glowing presence in the world of electronic music. For the third release, this blossoming imprint introduces extended family Marksy & Alta aka Odd Parents - close friends with label head Maceo Plex and at the heart of the Ellum Audio crew – and their debut release featuring a killer remix from Berlin based Catz n Dogz & Martin Dawson.

Deliciously funky, title track ‘Fame’ delivers a modern disco – house hybrid, with an electric locked in groove. This infectious number will be sure to infiltrate your senses. Featuring a powerful electronic vocal from MP and funky guitar licks, this track slots seamlessly into the Ellum Audio catalogue.

Following their successful release on Get Physical in March 2011, Polish duo Catz N Dogz team up with Martin Dawson once again to supply the remixes on this tasty release. Heading up the B-side is their ‘Sweet Saturday Remix’ a mysteriously dark delivery of whomping, warping basslines and driving energy with added melodic keys and metallic bell ringing.

Second up on the B-side, the second original track from Odd Parents, ‘Silk & Wine’ steams in with raw analogue percussions while electro synth patterns and organic keys glide over the tougher beats with rising emotion. A true solid groove burns at the heart of this bouncing beast and will capture the soul of any who hears it.

Discoisfordancing.com - "Epic deep shit right here !! Catz N Dogz have been seriously killing it lately as well as Martin Dawson. So to have them together is a god send. Keep it funky deep citizen."

              Label: Ellum Audio
              Cat: ELL 003

              Format: 12"
Released: 10 February, 2012

              02. Jeremy P. Caulfield & Cesare Vs Disorder - Young Pretenders (Dumb Unit Dynasty EP 2) [Dumb Unit | DU066]

Stylistically different from their previous releases, the Dynasty II EP is a catchy, propulsive and perhaps at times even romantic release. Providing four energetic songs of varying mood, the EP proves that the boys can always deliver. The EP Included Cesares road tested "What Do U Want", A straightforward old school banger with deep distorted synths and a monster vocal hooks. The track is then also remixed by both Jeremy & Cesare adding both depth and character to the already powerful original.

On the A side is where the power and dynamism of Cesare and Jeremy's first full collaboration lies. "Young Pretenders" : A booming ode to late night
hedonism that busts open with energy and dynamism. A song that demonstrates how important collaboration can be, when rules are broken, personal sonic prejudices are put aside and fun is deemed to be king.

Ruede Hagelstein & The Noblettes - A Priori (Ruede Hagelstein Remix) [Souvenir Music | SOUVENIR040]

RUEDE HAGELSTEIN & THE NOBLETTES – A PRIORI

              Tracklist:

              A1. A Priori (Noir Remix)

A2. A Priori (Guillaume And The Coutu Dumonts The Wind Blows Remix)

B1. A Priori (Tiefschwarz Remix)

              B2. A Priori (Original)
D5. A Priori (Ruede Hagelstein Remix) Digital only

              Format: 12“ Maxi Single/Digital

Ruede Hagelstein wants it all, and not just that jazz. The Berlin producer, known for his productions that straddle the boundary between house on techno, released on labels like Souvenir and Upon You Records, will release his debut album 'Soft Pack' together with his band, The Noblettes on November 18, 2011.

A Priori is the first track on the indie-electronic LP, and cannot claim itself free from jazz influences. With piano, a horn section, and brushed snares, the track swings with the best of them. Since Ruede's vocals also require something a little more dancefloor-friendly, this digital appetizer will be served up with a remix from the man himself. The vinyl will follow with remixes from Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts, Noir and Tiefschwarz.

              05. Norman H & Minoru Hirata - La Bufadora (Original Mix) [Stripped Recordings | 093-SR]

A DJ and producer in his own right, as well as massive football fan and big follower of London founded QPR (Queens Park Rangers). Norman and Stripped came to prominence in 2001 with production duo 'Stripped Inc.' (Gary Dubbs & Norman H) and their Twilo inspired smash Glitterball, which was played by none other than John Digweed at 'that' legendary NYC night (Diggers' Twilo 4 Year Anniversary).

After a hiatus, Norm returned in 2005 with Stripped Recordings, and a consistent release schedule of high quality sounds has followed. Norm has major ties to South America, playing club dates in the region and picking up on new producers, bringing to our attention the leading lights of tomorrow.

Of particular note for Hernán's fanbase is June 2011's 'Argentina Unmixed' LP [Stripped Digital | 001-SDLP] which compiled from demos sent in by producers across Argentina. This great package contained 28 tracks and two remixes from the likes of Marcelo Vasami, Diego Poblets, Juan Deminicis and Pablo Acenso and showcases just how much great music is coming out of a country that lives, eats and breathes electronic music, and knows how to party.

Stripped, through Norman's hard work & dedication, has a global outlook to music and an ethos that supports new talent. So, if it sounds great, then it warrants a release and sharing with the wider population regardless of how big or small the name is.

And long may this continue - full support !!

              06. Vincenzo - Sometimes Saturday (Tom Middleton Remix) (Wherever I Lay My Head Remixes EP) [Dessous Recordings | DES107]

Following Vincenzo‘s astonishing recent album, ‚Wherever I Lay My Head‘, which really elevated the producer‘s status into the stratosphere, we continue the story with three new remixes, from cult legend Tom Middleton, smooth-talking newcomers Genius Of Time, and talented UK-based Mic Newman.

Tom Middleton, who needs no introduction as the legendary producer behind such classic projects as The Jedi Knights, Global Communication and Cosmos, hands in a modern deep techno remix that shimmers with melody and dubbed out echoes of the original version of ‚Sometimes Saturday‘. Leaning towards epic, with moody old-school synth builds set against contemporary punching bass tones, it certainly doesn‘t disappoint.

Sweden‘s maverick slow-housers Genius Of Time rework Vincenzo‘s ‚106 Downtown‘ which is also a work of genius in its own right. The boys add sensitive, detailed down-tempo beats with some wonderful warm swirling vibes.

Mic Newman transforms ‚Hello!‘ into a crafty fresh tech-house groover with his ‚Dub Remix‘. Floating, ethereal synths mix with bubbling acid and liquid beats in this seriously smooth and complex mix.

              08. Richie G - But Her Fly [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-16]

Richie G is a prodigiously talented eighteen-year-old electronic music producer and DJ from Montreal, Canada, who you should already have on your music radar having released his debut, self-produced, “Baum” EP on Haçienda Records last year and his previous remixes for Traum and, not forgetting, Luis Junior’s “BG” (Bed91) when he was only fifteen!

He has received great support from within the Montreal scene and from this springboard has also pricked up the ears of major names such as John Digweed, Sasha, James Zabiela and Hernan Cattaneo (who along with Jesper Dahlback also remixed “Vorbendacht” from the “Baum” EP).

“Eterna” and “But Her Fly” display all the hallmarks of the supremely sumptuous techno-edged electronic music that Richie G produces. Euphoric, beautiful, highly individual and inventive in equal measures, his depth of musical knowledge and finely honed production skills belie his young age. Bedrock brings you two superb tracks from one of the hottest talents around in 2012.

“There’s a young kiddee called Richie G from Montreal in Canada who I feel is going to do very well.” [John Digweed]

              [Special House Association Review]

Rather well timed for our interview with Nathan Fake, Richie G’s two tracker on Bedrock evokes memories of the Border Community wonderkid’s first productions. Where Fake has drifted off into the world of fluid and glitchy electronica, Richie is delightfully direct and emotional.

Both tracks exude melancholy and there is a certain bliss to be found in the sounds of sad. Eterna’s key is the tight and fast arpeggio that starts to cut through the otherwise dreamy textures, reaching a crescendo of chorused reverb before dropping you down from the ceiling.

If I say But Her Fly has a typical Bedrock bassline stab then I’m sure you know what I mean. The kind of sound that laughs in the face of one note trance basslines with all its squelchy pomp, anchoring the beautiful scales that drift over the track, stopping it from becoming lightweight peacock music.

              09. Alessandro Diga - Zwijnenstal [Manual Music | MAN075]
