Check out The Mixing Bowl. Found it while MS was down last week. Its only small at the moment, but it looks friendly.

Re: Another download site
If you have the money to afford the servers, yes. If you want to do it community based, torrents are a good alternative to p2p programs. You just need a Torrent client and download the torrent link (created for each file) and load it into your client program...that?s it.Comment

Hey esef, I'm with you there, trying to get the torrent thing going too. I have dL the torrent software, but havent spent the time to make it all work yet. So many good sets to dL directly has taken more than all of my free time. I'm going to try it, but I havent only because of time and the fear of these registry deposited spyware and hijacker programs out there. I believe the torrent software is fine, but for awhile I was sceptical of every ODD software program for dL. I recently paid for the NETPUMPER but still havent figured it out yet. As of now, I'm still battling a registry program which turns off my firewall at start up. A real pain in the big patooty.Comment

Re: Another download site
It seems to me that torrents are a pretty good thing. You don't have to have a huge bandwidth server to handle all the downloads, instead people are supplying bytes as soon as they get them.
The thing that pisses people off is when people close their torrent window as soon as they finish a download. The Mixing Bowl record stats based on IP address. If you don't allow at least as many bytes to be uploaded as you have downloaded then you'll be bumped. Fair enough to me...An ounce of image is worth a pound of performance.Comment
