Re: John Digweed Live in Cordoba 3 x CD / Bedrock upcoming release
To say its about money is off the mark e.g. John & Nicks remix of Eterna may not end up a money spinner and repay the studio time put in - on the flipside, it has been a great track live and ended up as part of this package.
Labels aren't money makers (filesharing has put paid to that and has impacted less known producers in terms of using creating music as a career) and I'd probably say that everything Bedrock makes as profit is re-invested (the money these days is in the DJ fees). I know some producers don't receive payment from labels (probably the loss makers that just about survive) : Diggers always has a great rep and has many producers clamouring to have their tracks released, plus the new producers Bedrock has broken have gone on to launch careers in the biz.
I'd say this release is (i) a thank you to fans (esp. those in S America) by sharing a great gig in a nice package (ii) something to build on Bedrocks excellent batch of releases and keep the label prominent (iii) about maintaining Diggers profile as someone that puts out high quality non-commercial music.
