    Sharing sets: A modest proposal

    From another thread:

There isn't a SINGLE file hoster who's 100% reliable these days, personally I don't need to pay extra money to share sets when Dropbox and Soundcloud are available but people here are too lazy to bother. Simple solution: buy a SoundCloud Pro for MS or create an MS Dropbox with extra space.

It would cost a few dollars each month, if the contributors are more than just a dozens, then it'd be just a few cents.

I could even expand my own Soundcloud Pro, I'd pay 30, it would only take 20 EURO A MONTH TO BUY UNLIMITED DISK SPACE.

100+ users contribute 240 eu per year, you do the math, almost free.

After the tee-shirts fiasco, countless botched deals, countless examples of people not delivering the goods and other accidents in my career as a commercial site's owner, my hopes are not high.

I'm up for getting a Dropbox Pro account, I love the service.... I used to love soulseek, not a lot of peeps using it though.

Lets brainstorm guys...we should definitely be able to get a [ms] shared group started.

Soundcloud Pro would be a pretty kick ass idea. How do you keep everything organized though without it getting to be a huge mess?

Actually you need the Pro Plus account for unlimited uploads which is 59 EUR a month: http://soundcloud.com/premium?ref=top

Yes, Pro is what I have now.

"Sets" is the only way to organize stuff under categories.

500 a year would have been a no brainer two years ago, now I'm more than broke, I'm bankrupt and starving.

the problem with paying for SC is you still don't control it. if/when they decide to clean up that site, bye-bye sets!

I speak for myself and my accounts: very far-fetched, they have strict filters for major labels (even if it's indie labels under distribution) and selected house tracks, you find the same at Beatport, in other forms. If they do extend the limitations, I still have space I can use for music. (I love your avatar tidz, let's throw a sax man party!!!).

If everyone could agree to use one service, I'd be happy to pay for my own unlimited downloads, I just can't afford to pay for premium memberships at 10 different downloading sites.
