Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"
So you moan about technology moving on so people don't need to apply a craft then tell me I have to accept change.
This craft you hold in such high esteem is no longer required in order to do that job, You have people like Hawtin, Craig and even Sasha have embraced the technological change that has erupted in the last 10 or so years and I think there have been plenty of interviews with them as to what they feel the advantages are. Even Digweed himself said (and I agree) it matters what comes out of the speakers and not what they mixed it on. You either like it or you don't. The technology a DJ hasn't downgraded the quality of a DJ's set. Shit Dull as dish water music has.
u just have to accept that things move on and rather arguing about it just accept it
i don't moan about technology changing but others do, technology has degraded the whole scene as far as i,m concerned because its now a lot easier for a shit musician to release his/her music and of course the technology to make tunes is also significantly been made easier for people to get a hold of!!! have u been on beatport recently and checked out new releases ?Comment

This one is even odder. Just because you became a Sasha fan following your Happy Hardcore days doesn't mean we are going to expect and invasion of ex Happy Hardcore fans. Its like saying I was in to psychobilly and now I like Sasha, so I'm sure there will be an invasion of guys & girls with quiff's, brothel creeper shoes and double bass's all becoming Sasha fans. I reckon you have as much chance of that happening as us seeing anything productive happening with the underground supper solders who train and sleep, train & sleep.
its not odd at all, people go through phases and move on, just because you don't like something now doesn't mean to say when ur a little older u might not like it then especially if you like edm as a whole, no one said sasha specifically but people who are into shm will eventually move onto something else later in life as i,m sure u have done many many times before yourselfComment

Facepalm. This is either hilarious, or very sad, and I can't figure out which! In 2012 you can pay someone to make a track for you, pay someone to buy it enough times for you on different accounts so it enters the beatport top100, pay someone to get you loads of soundcloud plays so it looks popular, what's next? Pay someone to mix records under the table for you while you stand there in the dj box, twisting knobs, fist pumping and blowing kisses to the ladys? We, the electronic music community, don't care about chart positions, plays or (fake) hype. We care about carefully crafted, quality, non disposable music that has been made with love, and as a result: touches our soul. Share this photo if you agree with us. This madness needs to be called out!

Re: Dj sneak calls swedish house mafia "dj actors"
The other day some "Ghost Studio" published an ad, candidly admitting they were behind many Beatport Top 100s (naming label names).
Wait, not a MASTERING studio. They write, record, master and deliver a "hit track" for hire, like Motown or the Brill Building, only shit.
Now this "scandal" (yeah).
So I'm asking, considering all this, how credible is the DJ Top100? Popularity contest MY ASS! Turned monkeys like Guetta and the horrid Swedish Maffia into mainstream superstars. This people PAY for their Top 10 here and Top 100 there, that shouldn't be allowed. In the end quality label (whatever that means) will go out of business.╔══╗............/\_¸_/\

Whatever stuff gets the most $dolla$ backing in front of the most eyes is going to be the most popular...generally speaking.
I just bought about 50 bux worth of tunes on beatport about 2 hrs ago from mainly nobody labels who are making recut disco, r+b, and house edits that i've discovered from the revenge, ooft! and superbreak and other small labels i've found online. and that is awesome. i've found so much stuff i love due to soundcloud and peeps here like garryx who've given me a heads up and that makes me happy.
diggers was the guy who got me into listening to this whole genre and is my fav dj of all time who can do no wrong, but i've moved on from his sound, so it is great to have other places like soundcloud to discover new tunes. its like banned1 said earlier (barring any incoherent nonsense to the contrary): times and people change and thanks to teh internertZ that is a good thing. But also it is a bad thing because any jackass with a soundcard can pollute the environment and it becomes more of a game of rising up above the mass of generic shit that becomes the problem.Comment
