Legendary dance floor vanguards X-Press 2, will be taking us on a multitude of sonic adventures as they take over the decks for the next installment of A Night With…
X-Press 2, Darren House aka ‘Diesel’ and Darren Rock ‘Rocky’ have been at the forefront of British electronic music for two decades now. As producers and DJs, the London duo share the same sense of musical discovery that first united them on the acid-house dance floors of South London’s Shoom, Oakenfold’s Spectrum and the Balearic playgrounds of Ibiza. A pioneering spirit that fuelled early Nineties underground anthems such as the percussive, US-influenced ‘Muzik Express’ and ‘London X Press’. A fearlessness to experiment that helped them create languid deep house classics like ‘Lazy’ and ‘Give It’ with vocalists as unlikely, yet inspired, as David Byrne of Talking Heads and Kurt Wagner of Lambchop.
January 2012 saw the release of their much anticipated third album ‘House of X Press 2’, named after their weekly broadcast on Ministry of Sound Radio, packed full of standout collaborative tracks that place them yet again at the top of their game. It’s a definitive body of work that delves deep into the X-Press 2 psych and pulls out a monumental culmination of two year’s worth of work that collides head long as it goes with some of the finest talent around, including the likes of infamous house vocalist Roland Clark for ‘Let Love Decide’ and Moshi Moshi’s James Yuill on the lushly disco-infused ‘Time’.
The dance floor has always been the driving force and inspiration behind X Press 2’s musical endeavors. Once famed for performing on up to 12 decks at a time, they have made appearances at renowned festivals the world over, including Exit in Serbia, Sonar in Barcelona and a stomping performance at Glastonbury 2008. Despite this, the pair feel happiest with intimate environments and time to embark on a dance floor journey that explores the furthest realms of house music, from retro jacking classics to the new and cutting edge, so having 8 hours in the atmospheric surrounds of Basing House for A Night With… should have them feeling right at home for an epic adventure of musical magnitude.
