Don't think it will surpass Inglorious Bastards.
Opening scene from Inglorious Basterds is amazing...it gets a bit silly at times, but still held together well...Christoper Waltz as Col. Hans Landa was brillaint.

Good plot, good cinematography, some outstanding performances again props to Di Caprio and Samuel L. Jackson, but the cream of the crop was certainly Christoph Waltz.

One thing that really got to me was the soundtrack, you just have rap music playing during a film based in the 19th century, really got on my nerves having such an obscure random soundtracks e.g. Spanish alternative, rap, to operas etc. Just felt annoyed after each episode of that. I understand he is aiming for a spaghetti western technique of remolding a scene with music but it just didn't fit in my books.

This was typical Tarantino dialogue, blood, guts and glory. Being a huge western fan I think personally this was not a bad attempt as a modern western. Worth a watch.

^ending your review with "worth a watch" is not a very good endorsement to spend the $$ for a ticket. Will wait for it on Itunes

It was fun while it lasted...

                  Re: Django Unchained (2012)

a year afer this thread was created.I just saw it.

It is both amazingly entertaining and amazingly horrific. The overall movie was so tense. As you would expect the humour was weird, creepy & unexpected (as was the soundtrack). The hardest stuff to watch was the whipping scenes -just cringe worthy and horrific - which is of course what Tarrantino intended.
                  Great performances all round.

However, can anyone rationally explain while 3 australians suddenly popped up in an 1860's western? !! Besides Tarrantions awful acting.

For me its second best to Pulp Fiction in the Tarrantino stakes.

                  very worthwhile watch.

^I'm with you man, entertaining, weird, unexpected, very intense, then this bizarre ending that seemed to me at least to have been thrown together last minute without as much thought as the rest. It just got kind of silly near the end.
