Young Scots duo Clouds provide a meaty and valuable addition to the ClashMusic DJ mix this week, with an hour of tough techno, gritty electro and acid-lashed discordant electronica.
Displaying a musical knowledge and proficiency far beyond their years (and previously being flagged up as an act to watch in our Electric Selection), Clouds – Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson – excel in creating uncompromising, glitchy, techy electro, guaranteed to melt minds and bleed noses.
Their talents quickly picked up the attention of one Tiga, who signed them to his Turbo Recordings label in 2010. Several artists from Turbo make an appearance on Clouds’ mix – including a Tiga remix of Friendly Fires – as well as Untold, Blawan, Grimes and Christian Vogel, all making for a mix with more clout than a deftly wielded sledgehammer.
