:::PRESS RELEASE:::
Alex & Filip’s rise in the techno scene has been as urgent and attention-getting as their music. New single ‘Lost In Time’ finds the Slovenian duo in the form that has made them one of the hottest new names in European clubland. Did anyone really expect anything less?
‘Lost In Time’ is deep, it’s menacing and it’s brooding. An earth-shattering bass riff rumbles unrelentingly throughout the track, accompanied by airtight drum programming and swarms of fidgety, glitchy synth stabs. It’s primed to deliver a bone-shaking buzz to everyone on the late night dance floors of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The b-side sees ‘Lost In Time’ given the remix treatment by none other than Spektre. The legendary production outfit add vibrant percussive elements and rework the bass to give ‘Lost In Time’ an entrancing swagger. Falling under Spektre’s spell has never sounded so compelling. And support from such a high profile name is more evidence of Alex & Filip’s continued rise to the zenith of the techno scene.
Experienced DJs in their own right, Alex & Filip joined forces in 2005. Their first taste of real chart success came with the release of the prog-tinged ‘Liquid Fantasy’, which went straight to number two in the Release promo chart. But in 2010, the duo made the decision to concentrate on a sound that better reflected their love of techno. It was a landmark moment. And one that quickly resulted in deals with premier techno labels including Respekt and Rekluse.
The duo have since produced remixes for respected artists including Federico Epis, Mohawk and Subfractal as well as top underground labels like Big Love, What Happens and Suesse. They have shared decks with some of the world's finest DJs such as Umek, Valentino Kanzyani and Paul Woolford. And they have presented mixes for everyone from Ministry of Sound Radio to Mainframe. Their growing reputation has also pricked the ears of John Digweed and Fergie, who both count themselves as fans.
Alex & Filip might be lost in time. But this is the sound of an outfit who know exactly where they’re going. And their step grows ever more strident.
