looking for a phone recommendation on ATT plan

anyone have a recommendation? I don't own a smartphone, so this will be my first chance to purchase one. Was hoping to get some ideas before I go in and listen to the shpiel.

Also, i don't care what you think about ATT as a service provider. I'm with them and that's that. Just looking for a damn good phone.

If you've narrowed down your choices between iOS and Android (considering you're looking at the Note), just get the Note if getting the phone asap is what matters. If it doesn't and you can wait till June / July, get the Samsung Galaxy SIII. It's a shade smaller than the Note (if the Note feels too big for you, it's starting to feel like a tablet to me), the SIII has a better processor, bigger battery, HD screen, better camera (software), will come preloaded with ICS, will just have a lot of things going for it.

Don't get me wrong, the Note is a wicked device, it's a secondary device / toy for me. I use it only for the web, surfing, gaming, music and that's it. It's fast enough, big enough, rootable enough and just everything enough of everything to make it an extremely worthy contender.

just get the iphone and be done with it.... i like sprint a lot because of it's unlimited service plan.

The Note is absolutely huge though. I'm not sure if it's a phone inasmuch as it is a tablet for a tablet.

I was intrigued by the Galaxy 3 until I started reading about the One X by HTC. i know there's a lot of complaining about the fact you can't replace the battery on it, but I figure after about a year or two I'll eventually upgrade to a new phone anyways so it's not a big deal. Also, the 16gig memory on it is also not a big deal since I can't envision myself saving my music on my phone (i think the people who take issue with this are the people who play video games and download movies a lot). those two points aside, it seems like a superior product to the Galaxy 3 (with the additional problem of having to wait another month or so to get the Galaxy 3).

thoughts on the One x? Or HTC?

Florida: I was originally on sprint before switching to ATT. the problem with sprint around my area is that it gets absolutely terrible service here compared to verizon or att. and with att, I found out that i get a pretty steep discount on their products and services (for several reasons). So I'm going to be with them for a long time.

I had an HTC Desire HD before this, it was good while it lasted and I had no complaints against it. I heard the camera on the OneX is wicked though I haven't really looked into it. Battery life with ALL Android devices is shit but if the OneX comes with Android, just compare the battery sized between the S3 and the OneX and go for the one that is bigger, especially if this will be your primary phone.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but Samsung overall have done very well in their phone division. They've beeaten Nokia to become the largest phone manufacturer in the world and they've beaten Apple in the US in the first quarter. The model of phones responsible for it was the Galaxy. On the flip side, HTC has lost more than 15% of it's market share (which is absolutely huge).

Compare the specs, I think the S3 will be Sammy's first quad core beast. What's the HTC?

You would be seriously surprised how good this phone is. Win as a OS to me does the job.

Galaxy SIII looks like a contender too. But depends on what the iph5 brings, only others can follow.

have not bought anything yet but probably will this weekend. I'm waiting to hear reviews of people who bought the oneX and any glitches or problems they may be having with it. So far, it seems the only real problem is on a few select games that the processor can't handle on a few different scenes in the game.

I still have this and it was the shit back when. Lasted for like 2 weeks without a charge and ringer was loud as hell.

just placed an order for the GIII. can't wait! The One X is solid, but the non-detachable battery, among other things, was kind of a deal breaker. Also, I would never buy a phone that says "beats audio" on it to glorify some rapper/producer who sold out to the mainstream. lol

1. There's nothing about Iphones that would translate with my identity. Much like I would never walk a small dog that's wearing a furry sweater.
2. I like technology for adults, not for soccer moms.
3. I'll never buy an Apple product for as long as I live unless the create an iFountainofYouth
