FOLEY's in SF is always highly recommended... I think a block away from Ruby Skye... duelling piano's Friday/Saturday until 2:00am in case you get bored of Ruby Skye

I'm sorry, but, Ruby Skye is a terrible terrible place. There are so many better venues in the city to check out before ending up at that shit hole. Try Mighty, EndUp, Beatbox, PublicWorks, 222, Monarch, Monroe (in no particular order). I can guarantee you that the music and the crowd at any of those places will be far superior than that of Ruby Skye.

Vessel, I've only been once to see Cassy... interesting place... there was a private party before, so some of the squares stayed afterward and mingled with the heads... then there were all the Financial District types just schmoozing about. I'd imagine it was one of them who flooded the bathroom, which cut short Cassy after only 45 minutes of playing, as we had to all leave the building.

if you want a little bit of jazz, don´t forget to go to the "Village Vanguard" jazz club. You´ll love it
                  It´s a spiritual thing!

                      Re: My first US visit

Honestly almost all of the clubs mentioned above in Sf have terrible nights. you just got to figure out which promoter is throwing their party that night.

Though there are clubs like "Ruby skye" that are atrocious , I mean the music , the crowd and the vibe is just terrible. I dunno about you but i just can't stand clubs with gogodancers anymore specially if they are male gogodancers :/ or shirtless douchebags walking all over the place. When dj pauly LOL from the jersey shore came here to "play" he played at ruby sky and the place was packed , if that tells you anything. I haven't been to ruby skye in years . Supperclub falls into this same category.

"222 hyde" is a techno bar for the most part with a basement that has a dance floor . The owner has made some changes which according to some of my friends this is the place to be specially on tuesdays. I like this bar a lot .

"Icon" is a more intimate club it has a night on wednesdays called "Housepitality" they play some really interesting deep house and bring some big headliners as surprised guest djs that are just passing by Sf.

"Vessel" i would recomend checking it out ONLY on thrusdays which has a pretty decent night called BASE other nights is just like ruby skye but in a smaller scale. The dance floor gets kindda messy just because there are way too many people walking by but the drinks and fit birds make up for it .

"Mighty", "Beatbox" and "Monarch" on fridays are amazing .... these 3 have a more underground feeling to it , the latter is my fav one

"Public works" use to be sick but the club owners have made too many changes to the club now it has been divided in 2 ambients . Still is a good place to party on saturdays.

                      After hours clubs

"The end up " thats where you can get lost in the oblivion on saturdays
" Monroe " early sundays are great

Finally on Sunday night Otis lounge has a party called "WERD" which is nice to just chill before starting your week.

the clift's bar is pretty chill I thought, but not somewhere you'd want to hang out for very long. Speaking of SF, has anyone been to the hotel that turned it's pool into a lagoon and has a pirate ship and rain storms and shit? Sounds cheesy of course, but it's supposed to be older not like a new Rainforest Cafe

It was fun while it lasted...

                          Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Any thoughts on NYC? Ideally something in Manhattan and pretty chilled out.

Also, any hotel suggestions? I'm thinking of staying the meatpacking district. The Standard is too pricey but on the short list so far is Hotel Gansevoort (mixed reviews) and the Desmond Tutu Center (good reviews but not sure about it)
