People do this for a number of reason's usually to make money. In the 90's Sasha mix tape used to sell by the bucket load. If you put some DJ's name on the box you will get no one wanting to buy it. Put Sasha Oakenfold or Digweed there are rich pickings to be had. It was actually really common for people to do it. Probably up until the last 4 or 5 years. Whats funny is the amount of people who think they are genuine. superwave being the worst offender. There are a whole load of Sasha fakes out there and he's convinced they're genuine. That Mixmasters tape and the Gold Collection are good examples.

It might also be worth pointing out the it wasn't DJ Vertigo who was responsible for faking these tapes. Some one just took his mixes and bootlegged them.
