Re: Is America killing dance music?

Bill Brewster knows what he's talking about. I won't comment on Harris, he's not even a DJ, he's a pop producer. What he said it's wrong because whether it's a fading artistry or not (not), US "EDM" is not the answer.

And there's a REALLY BIG difference between proper DJs who endorse it and sometimes use pre-recorded sets and people who never were dance producers/jocks to begin with.

Sasha & Digweed created a monster with the whole stadium type tour concept...its just been copied & milked to the extreme....the whole table service thing seems to be a Las Vegas disease that has spread...only a matter of time before it comes to some wanky pretentious clubs here...Gold Coast would be its first stop in AUS

The Delta Heavy concept still revolved around the music though - just with added visuals and a decent sound system.

Heineken also did a big tour with Cox, Oakenfold and Cattaneo ... plus Diggers supported on Moby's area 2 tour.

Dance Festivals existed too ... and then started to get more live acts.

The tour concept has been around for ages ... and America has always liked a show .. so throwing cakes and arsing around in an inflatable canoe is just part of that.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
