    Re: How to Ditch Cable?

I'm not saying connecting a computer to your TV is bad, it's just a completely different experience. At the end of the day it boils down to whether you want a keyboard and mouse to sit on your couch 24x7 waiting for you to jump into Google, or if you want something that's always available at your fingertips on a remote control. I've done both, and they both do exactly what they need to do, but Boxee wins hands-down on user experience IMO

That htpc remote looks pretty cool. I wonder if you could pair it to a ps3

I've found an awesome website that has organized pretty much all the free content that is legal on the web. PM me if you want the link, movies, tv shows, documentaries and more.

so..... after trying out boxee..... I ended up ditching comcast....returning the boxee and getting dish. I get all the same stuff as comcast at half the price (after the promotions run out a year from now)

What didn't you like about Boxee that made you decide to return it? What features did it not have that you wanted?

                            Re: How to Ditch Cable?

There was nothing bad about it really.... But if I don't know what I want to watch and just want to flip though some things to find something good, it was just WAY to much shit on there to sift through to narrow it down to something I like. Like you said, if I had kids, this thing would be money. But the "web browswer" wouldn't play HBO go content, so I couldn't use it for that, so that was really the deal breaker for me.

I've finally taken the first step towards cutting my Dish Network. Having seen how incredibly good the Roku 3 is (at a friend's place), I just ordered mine off of Amazon.

Biggest reason to go with Roku 3 is because of the DishWorld plugin they have, Bollywood channels for the Mrs. at $45/Month with 38 channels included where as I was only getting 5 channels for $45 through Dish Network. And since I have Amazon Prime, I get free Amazon Video on Demand and a bunch of my favorite shows are already on there (Top Gear, Motorweek, Known Universe, Ghost Adventures, to name a few).

It will hopefully drop my TV bill from $115/Month to $45/Month.
