you need something that sets you apart from all the facebook type crap rather than trying to be more like them.

It might surprise you how many people feel the same way I do, but they just go away rather than get involved in petty wars for daring to state the bleeding obvious.

Maybe run the site for music rather than nerds ?? A lot of the simple things don't work anymore. It's really annoying

Some selective quoting of Di sums up my thoughts, but i honestly doubt anyone gives a shit what my thoughts are. I've no doubt you're very proud of the Dj database and the programming tweaks and apps that make the forum more and more like the boring, soulless shit that is facebook. But when was the last time any of this stuff made the experience of coming to ms better? Honestly?

If the DIgweed and Hernan stuff is hosted externally will that really make any difference to a new member? Surely if the reason they join is to get those sounds, they'll just be grateful to get them rather than gripe that it isn't a direct link? If it's all in one place in the forum along with the tracklists etc then i don't think hosting externally is a big deal, providing the links stay live, which i'm sure they would.

In the meantime we can sit back and watch the slow, painful death of what was once a very vibrant place, whoop and holler when the membership hits 50,000, ignore the fact that 49,000 are inactive and repeatedly ask why Chunky is pissed off. I've really no idea why CHunky would be pissed off???? Maybe he was just having trouble deciding what his favourite condiment was? FFS

I didn't read a single sentence in there on how you are going to improve this apparent shithole. Just how much it sucks. Maybe there's the problem? Same complaints I read last month when I was last on here and nothing helpful.

I have all the hc ones, I've spent the last couple of days filling holes in the collection. I have a sneaking suspicion that I have a lot of multiples but you can't be too careful. I will be putting them all up on mediafire over the next couple weeks, there are a lot there now. At least I am getting it all organised properly. But it would still be nice to have them here. I have to say thank you to those who did such a great job on the archives !!

One of things I really appreciate is the tracklists, I will be putting those up as well.

I've always liked Mediafire since they seem to be the fastest for me and the least likely to take down stuff, but they could get raided soon or they could change their policy sometime and things could wind up going missing. Thats always the tradeoff with the free download services I think.

Most of us are old timers on this site. Speaking for myself, I only visit subforums I subscribe to. Maybe the DJDB has little relevance to us, but it's still a helluva cool feature to have.

Another really nice feature is the Cloud Flipper, one of the new 'tweaks' or 'apps' that you guys whinge about. It's made MY life a lot more convenient via RSS since I don't visit Soundcloud. Linking up Soundcloud to the DJDB is another genius.

And Simon putting together the Kiss write ups every week, now uploading his tagged MP3s for us, that is hardly a necessary 'feature' but it sure is nice to have!

(If you consider our archives in the context of these music functionalities and the founding purpose of the site, then keeping the archives is a no brainer.)

The editing on this site works since and I should know since I'm posting in the booby thread all the time.

What I don't understand about this whinging: the basic functionalities of this site has never changed. It's still a forum. You DON'T have to use any of the new features.

Kamal's thread about MS going the way of the dodo and all we might have is the nonsense thread and music thread. Well we still have that now.

So nothing's stopping any of us from starting threads, contributing crap, and making this place 'vibrant'.

The forum is made up of its people, not the upgrades. So the onus is on you.

MS cost time and money. And I doubt if the people who contribute that time and money appreciate this. You sound like a bunch of babies throwing tantrums about the toys they never asked for.

the DJDB is awesome. i've got an 18+ hour trip next week and that thing makes it so easy and quick to load up on some new tunes.

this place has always been about tunes, random funny shit and parties.

Nowhere did i say I was going to improve anything, did I? I didn't call the place a shithole, you did and I didn't say "it sucks"
It was a statement of opinion, something which i'm allowed to have, thanks, whether you like the fucker or not. Can we have a bit more constructive input from you and your dim shadow rather than constant attempts to police people? If you've yet to realise that the two of you are as much to blame for the decline in this forum as anyone then you really are both slower than i thought, and that is saying something. I'm sure you'll both agree with eachother in disagreement and maybe even post a humourless picture in response but I know different, as do many others including a good number of those who have either left or are leaving.
