              01. Marcelo Vasami & Deepfunk - Remote Templates (Hakimonu Cause And Effect Dub) [ Subtract Music | subtract005]

From Malta to Argentina, two talented producers from very different parts of the world came together and result can be best described as groovy, hypnotic with a bit of funk. Surely to be a staple in sets of many DJs, the release also has 3 remixes, each one bringing something different to the table.

              Release/catalogue number: subtract005
              Release date: Jul 15, 2012

Little-known Israeli producer Hakimonu has created an eclectic range of lush, evocative house and techno over the past few years. Most of his music, including more than a dozen EPs have come through his own eponymous self-titled digital imprint. There has also been the Sea Saw EP with Lonya for Sudbeat [SB016] and a recent LP 'Worlds Are Born Again' for Sleep Is Commercial [SICX003] a Berlin-based label powered by Andrea Ferlin and Francesco Assenza.

              02. Arjun Vagale - Danger Mouse (Pawas Remix) (Random Eye Movement EP) [Trapez Ltd. | TRAPEZ ltd 115]

This 4 track EP starts where Arjun Vagales last release in Trapez ltd ended... with a mega big bass-line, a funky programmed groove that puts life in to every club environment.

The title track "Random Eye Movement" dos exactly this and has a breathtaking hypnotic character which we are very fond of.

It is followed by two remixes of his fantastic track "Danger Mouse". Ronan Portela has the groove as always put into action by funky rhythms that carry us away and Pawas does a wonderful dreamy remix that almost comes close to Traum music.

Last but not least Arjun adds with "Terrakoz" a fantastic jazzy and tracky beat which is fed by short stabs of vocals and background sounds. With Arjun all is turning round and round... lets jump on the disco bus!

              Pawas Bio

Cologne based Pawas Gupta was born and raised to a classical musician in India, early on, Pawas seemed destined for a career in music. Having started out playing the ‘tabla’ (Indian drums) alongside his father in concerts, Pawas’ musical prowess was evident for the connoisseurs of music. Soon enough he spread his wings and evolved in his domain, in teaching himself to play numerous other instruments including percussion, bass guitar and keyboards.

Following close on his father’s heels, Pawas eventually chose to pursue a career in electronic music, his new found love. At 17, he began DJing in his native, India. Pawas’ move to Europe in 2004, elevated him to another level of success and so has his music evolved with time.

Having gained both recognition and acclaim as a talented DJ around central Europe, production was the obvious next step. With the instant success of his ‘Katang’ in early 07, Pawas’ own production in collaboration with his best friend, and fellow dance heavyweight Daso, has seen this adopted German cause quite a stir in the global music scene.

Having releases with labels such as Spectral Sound, Flash, Squonk and Night Drive music, topped with smash hits such as ‘Bummelzug’, ‘Det’ and ‘Piano Rain’, a legion of the world's top DJs and producers have all joined the Pawas fan club. The list includes none other than Dubfire, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Marc Romboy, Luciano, Jimpster, Satoshie Tomiie and more.

              03. Rodriguez Jr. - Satellite (Muppet Anthem EP) [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE 095]

Only five releases away from the 100th, Rodriguez Jr. delivers on the 095 with a generous 4-track, digital only edition titled "Muppet Anthem".

The self-titled number makes up the first track on the EP with a pleasant array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer.

Seething down to the second track, "Ocean Drive" takes it down a notch by starting the track with exotic and tropical elements as it progresses into a high peak of faster beats and steady keyboard strikes. Its a number that will leave your feet grounded as your swaying shoulders and bobbing head lead the dance.

"Satellite" comprises the third number an emotional hymn bursting with soulful vocals and periodic tambourine jingles and jangles. Enjoy this eye closer preferably with your head back and arms reaching towards the sky.

Closing out the set is "Palo Alto", a high tempo number with various calculated beats one setting off the next. Crying vocals wrapped in multi-faceted elements will leave even your goosebumps dancing.

The French producer/DJ has a stupendous track record with mobilee and its sister label, Leena. In 2011 he released his very first album titled "Bittersweet" on the mobilee imprint. The summer of 2012 has seen weekly gigs throughout Europes favorite beach bars and waterfront clubs with Rodriguez Jr.

              04. El Mariachi - Monde (Checkor Remix) [Fluxus Music | Promo]

El Mariachi (Yaroslav Gnatchenko) from Kharkov, the second largest city of Ukraine, is remixed by Athens based Costas Mitsopoulos (Checkor).

              05. Ümit Han - Im Herzens Garten Erstarb Die Rose [Traum Schallplatten | Traum V152]

A believer is always a believer. Ümit Han joined the techno roundtable about 10 years ago. As a fan, a clubber and finally as an activist and DJ he has appreciated the social value of the German techno scene in many respects.

He has been through hard times, ups and downs… parting from Blackisbeautuful... but now he is back in full attack with a unique and original 6 track EP on our label Traum.

Ümit had recorded several EP's in the past, this EP is his newest invention.
All raw and all analogue Ümit just uses hardware and real machines to create these small irregular shapes that people call organic.

The challenge of writing a melodic techno release was one of his aims, and that is actually what we get... very thought out analogue but very spiritual. He has studied studio engineering at SAE in Cologne and this EP is in a way a result of his studies.

The opening track "An Einem Traurigen Morgen" is in fact a Traum (dream) becoming reality, powerful but fragile, melancholic but also happy the track unites machine drummings and melodic played passages to what we feel is a new way of perceiving strong melodies in techno music.

The tracks flows in a way a raindrop does after it hits the front window and descends to the bottom with grace. Ümit Han has written/contributed a fantastic chord melody that sticks to your mind and will have this track linger on in your mind for many days.

"Im Herzens Garten Erstarb Die Rose" is a build up track. It starts with a drumming that reminds us of fantastic stripped down percussive techno by the likes of Kotai (Disco B) and Plastikman but enhances it with a strong dreamlike melody... in a gas like like state… evaporates. If you call this post Detroit techno that might describe it by definition but it would not do it justice… it is more linked to a European approach for melodic music. As he said in an interview for him Jean Michel Jarre is as important to him as Jeff Mills.

"Der Gesang Der Nachtigall" is for Ümit Han the most complex track he has ever written, almost exceeding his capability to write melodies as he put it. Starting like a drum machine rocker with a slack open hi hat... multiple chords soon kick in and convey a slow motion movement that is sexy as hell and stays in strong contrast to the other elements, this track has that certain magic which is very much rooted in club culture!

Microtrauma have remixed "An Einem Traurigen Morgen" with very much feeling for detail and for the deep moments Ümit has put forward in his release. They do this with so much skill... making it a classy remix!

Mononoid remixed "Im Herzens Garten Erstarb Die Rose" and start off with a Moroder like riff, but kill it gently having sonic sound emerge that show that Mononoid are on the roll! Fantastic sonic twisted techno.

"An Einem Traurigen Morgen" has been remixed from the the duo Fym who create a bit of a disturbed darkish atmosphere that marches through soundscapes that are confronted with melodic sequences all nicely blurred and dubby.

              06. Derek Howell - Laughing It Up (Kassey Voorn Remix) [Proton Music | Promo]

King Unique is Matt Thomas, an all round studio junkie and dj with a taste for tripped-out cosmic techno and rough-edged underground house; in a career spanning nearly a decade KU’s distinctive sound has won an enviable global following.

A ceaseless schedule of dj sets and festival gigs backed up by relentless studio sessions resulting in scores of records, remixes and radio broadcasts has made the KU sound an instantly recognisable part of the music-life of millions of the world’s clubbers - and a fixture in the vinyl crates, cd wallets and laptops of the world’s most influential djs. Consistently appealing across genres the tracks have been played by everyone from John Digweed to Soulwax, Richie Hawtin to Tiesto, and have turned up everywhere from Hollywood soundtracks to mobile ringtones - not to mention countless compilations and mix albums.

Formed in 2001 by Matt Thomas & Matthew Roberts, King Unique hit the floor running, claiming the title of Undisputed Remix Champs by scoring five Essential New Tunes in five months on Pete Tong's "Essential Selection" Radio 1 show. A US Billboard Dance Chart number 1 for the remix of Dirty Vegas’ “Walk Into The Sun”, plus two more solo Essential New Tunes for Matt under his Watkins and Mainframe alter-egos saw KU firmly cement their place amongst the ranks of first-call remixers.

The King Unique production touch has been in constant demand since, appearing on more than sixty remixes and yielding some of the biggest dance floor bombs known to man - Underworld's "Two Months Off", The Killers "Somebody Told Me", Planet Funk’s “The Switch”, Luke Slater "Feels Like Love", and Tracey Thorn’s "Grand Canyon".

2006 saw the end of the original duo’s studio partnership, as Matt Thomas took on the King Unique role as a solo artist. The four years since have seen the KU sound rise to new heights with a mixture of euphoric acidic melodies, dark brooding techno vibes and old skool beats. This new 'cosmic techno' has found it's home on John Digweed's Bedrock label with the release of "2000000 Suns" and the KU / Anthony Pappa collaboration “Vamoosh”.

Backing up the new material have been remixes of John Digweed’s “Bilder”, Hernan Cattaneo’s “Teleport”, Fergie’s “PCP” and an on-going association with James Lavelle’s UNKLE project that has so far resulted in five stunning re-workings; “Heaven”, "Heavy Drug", “The Answer”, “Reign feat. Ian Brown” & “Rabbit In Your Headlights feat. Thom Yorke” - all adding up to reaffirm Matt's status as one of the most versatile and consistent producers of the last ten years.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

So is it an Artist Album or Mix album?
