    [ms] member mix
    MH - Meridian

    Download link (on SoundCloud):
    http://soundcloud.com/emaich/mh-meridian-2012

This is my second mix. I finished this mix in three days, as opposed to my debut mix which took months and flew completely under the radar, as expected, since I didn't advertise it. I understand I'm not a very active nor popular poster on these forums, but essentially I only post my mixes to MS, on my SoundCloud page (with very few hits), and on my personal facebook profile.

In respect to the outstanding formats of posted radio mixes from my fellow posters at MS for Digweed and Hernan sets, I will post in the format of many weekly mixes from our favorite DJs, i.e. the tracklist followed by the details of each release.

    01. Smak feat. Ryan Vail - In the Beginning (Instrumental Mix; MH Edit) [094SR]
    01smak.jpg
Emerging from his home studio in the autumn of 2010 young Irishman Smak (aka Steve McCready) from Derry / Donegal has set about carving himself a niche in the very large and saturated world of Electronic Dance Music. But here we have a talent ,a true talent a producer who seems to be able to turn on that style everytime he enters his studio. He has never failed to surprise with his undoubted skill in crafting an Original tune or a Remix. His first release came in September 2010 on Ritual Music followed swiftly by the next on LA based Android Cartel’s Sketchbook label and at the end of 2010 he contributed to a Various Artist EP on petFood at the end of 2010.2011 arrived and so did Smak as he served up many a tasty dancefloor treat for Stripped Recordings, Stripped Digital, Hype Muzik, Baroque, Riff Raff, Babylon Records,Endemic Digital, Mirabilis,Gl1tched, Unrivaled Music and Dance Through Life Records too name a few. He also managed to release his first full artist album on the aforementioned Hype Muzik aptly entitled “Addicted To...”

His style if asked is multifaceted, House, Deep House ,Tech House ,Techno , Nu Disco / Indie Dance have all been touched on with remarkable results. He is a young and still emerging producer who certainly has a future in Dance Music and with a slew of new projects lined up and ready to go in 2012 and beyond Smak (aka Steve MCCready) is certainly a name to be followed very closely indeed.

    02. Max Cooper - Simplexity (Rone Remix) [TRAUMV149]
    02a.jpg
The facts are easy to establish: Max Cooper has more than 50 original releases, tracks and remixes under his belt, from glitchy reinterpretations of big bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to straight dancefloor 12"s like his breakthrough "Serie" originals and remixes for names like Agoria, Dominik Eulberg, Extrawelt, Pig and Dan, Kaiserdisco and Sasha.

The approach, meanwhile, is anything but simple. A melancholy composer whose live sets can raise blisters in a club, Cooper is as comfortable writing abstract electronica as he is writing dancefloor techno 12"s . A rationalist with an otherworldly, idealistic side, Cooper is also a wildly creative musician who until recently had a day job as a sober scientist.

And he's swung from extreme to extreme since he first took to the decks 11 years ago.

As Cooper sees it, there's conflict, but it's part of the music-writing process. Each side of his personality sparks ideas off the other, and what remains constant is his own unique and starkly emotional style. From his breakthrough trilogy of "Serie" releases on Traum Schallplatten - the first released in 2009 and with each track inspired by a different scientific or mathematical concept - Cooper has built a reputation for one-off originals, killer remixes and challenging DJ and live sets.

Since his first release in 2007, his back catalogue now includes two mainstream Hype Machine smashes with reworks of Hot Chip and Portishead, several Beatport genre top 10s, work with the visual artists Whiskas fX and Nick Cobby and an increasing number of collaborations with artists a long distance from Cooper's dancefloor beginnings.

With his time now mainly spent writing and touring music, Cooper continues to release his own originals, with 'The End Of Reason' described by Resident Advisor as "a truly sublime beatless tour de force that recalls Philip Glass, Aphex Twin's most serene moments and even Henryk Gorecki's Symphony No. 3", and the UK's IDJ magazine saying that Cooper "consistently proves himself to be one of the most peerlessly beautiful recording artists in modern dance music". Stark, emotive and original, Cooper is, according to Skrufff.com, "One of the greatest new talents to emerge on the dance scene in the last few years".

    Rone
    02b-rone.jpg
Paris-born producer Erwan Castex, aka RONE, has become a household name in the electronic music scene since he began his career in 2007.

His most famous hits, “Bora”, “Belleville” or lately "Nackt" and “So So So” rank among his best supporters beat-providers of the like of Pantha Du Prince, Ellen Allien, Steve Lawler, Michael Mayer or UK Superstars Massive Attack and dj Sasha.

Critically acclaimed, his debut album, “Spanish Breakfast” released in 2009, appealing to both dancefloors and living rooms alike has established him as one of the rising stars French scene.

Playing exclusively Live, Rone has already performed his powerful set at Rex Club in Paris, Berghain/Panorama bar in Berlin, Ageha in Japan as well as A-list European of the likes of Sonar, Nuits Sonores.

    03. Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Heimat (Robag's Turmkolle Rekksmow; MH Rework) [CNS044]
    03.jpg
First Remix package of the mighty Rebellion der Traumer album featuring interpretations from Jimpster & Robag Wruhme. Robag Wruhme, alias Gabor Schablitzki, is a beloved member of the German electronic music community and hails from the town of Jena in central Germany.

    04. Martin Roth - Beautiful Life (Original Mix) [ANJDEE146D]
    04.jpg
Martin Roth's "NuStyle" productions have taken clubland by storm throughout 08 including the Beatport 1 three weeks-on-chart-peak "Sensation Seeekers" and his NuStyle EP "Verloopt In Berlin."

Flirting with techno and minimal beats, while hinting at tech house, trance and electro his NuStyle has equally appealed to existing fans including Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Above & Beyond who are now beginning to be joined by industry stalwarts from across the fields of house, tech, progressive and minimal in support of the unique genre infused tracks … and names such as Chicane or renowned Pop-Acts like The Sugababes, Keane, Ich&Ich or Rosenstolz all personally requested the MR-Remix Treatment.

Record sales proved him right as his Remix for “sensation seekers” became #1 in 2008’s Beatport sales charts and Martin Roth was crowned alongside Eric Prydz & Deadmau5 “Star of 2008” as well as nominated more than any other Act in their ’08 awards receiving 3 nominations - no surprise with 5 different #1 selling tracks on the Portal and an incredible 16 Top 10 singles.

Moving to Berlin marked a decisive turning-point in the career of the Frankfurt born, classical trained piano professional. With LUNATIQUE records first and since 2010 the more minimalistic & (tech-) house based OMFG! imprint, Martin Roth founded an independent platform and trademark for his idea of House music.

By his characteristic strong DJ appearances on every continent & his unique distinctive style Martin Roth astonishes the crowds with skills and unpredictable open-minded track selection what resulted in end of 2009 with an international residency at the Ministry of Sound club in London and with events in over 25 countries a year - a statement to his exploding worldwide popularity in turn helping him being en Vogue and feeding him with extra inspiration as well.

    05. WhoMadeWho - Running Man (Dave DK Mix) [KompaktDigital020]
    05.jpg
Whomadewhos Brighter is a famously tight marvel of an album, brimming with heroic pop moments and poignant grooves for any club potatoe to savor. One of the very best tracks and a personal favorite of many a Kompakt staff member is undoubtably Running Man. It is no wonder then that we could gather a quite impressive collection of remixes, including a sweaty rework by French edit wizard Pilooski and a heavily bouncing mix by Catz 'n Dogz and Martin Dawson (of King Roc fame). More dancefloor extravaganza comes from notorious Dave DK, whose prolific work ethic might very well mark him as the original running man, and WhoMadeWhos Tomas Barfod: the drummer once more shows his striking skillset when it comes to the analysis of a hookline, making his expertly sequenced arrangement a true monster of a club anthem. Together with the original version of Running Man, we also included the radio edit of The Sun... because thats how good it is. Turn on, tune in, drop out! -Running Man, one of Brighters best songs, gets the remix treatment -An armada of studio heavyweights reworked the original, including Dave DK, Martin Dawson & Catz 'n Dogz, Pilooski and Whomadewho drummer Tomas Barfod. -Includes a concise radio edit of summer anthem The Sun.

    06. N'to - The Sand Dealer (Original Mix) [FORM21]
    06.jpg
For his second release on FORM Music , N'to offers us a melodic & mental experience with his new "JANE EP". As a real musicaholic, N'To has been producing smoothy melodies since 2004, visiting hip hop, trip hop, ambiant, and acoustic experimentations. His promising beginnings made labels such as Bamboo,Turbo rec, Form. This EP is deep dope. Hope youll enjoy as much as we do.

    07. Rone - Nakt (Original Mix) [10248]
    07.jpg
See Rone bio above. This dude has always been one of my favorites and is coming out with a new album very soon. Some of his new tracks (still unheard to my knowledge) have recently been seen on charts by many, including Dominik Eulberg among other top DJs.

    08. Julien Jeweil - Air Conditionné (Original Mix) [Many releases]
    08.jpg
Julian Jeweil is an internationally acclaimed DJ and producer originating from the south of France. In 2007, he released his first Hit EP “ AIR CONDITIONNE”. Following this magnificient release, Julian continued his musical journey producing a second EP for Skryptom, named "POP CORN" and remixed by Danton Eeprom. He then proceeded to producing two more – “TOURNESOL” on Craft Music and “MY CAT” on Figure (Len Faki’s label).

    09. Darin Epsilon & Tom Sela - Metamorph (Luis Junior Remix) [MESMERIC010]
    10.jpg
Support from John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo. Darin Epsilon and Tom Sela's groovy and melodic original mix comes with a peak time Progressive House remix from man of the moment, Deepfunk and a techno-ish interpretation from the great Luis Junior. Also don't miss Deepfunk second remix, in a more breaks/electronica vein.

    10. Nikko.Z - The Lizard King (Retail Original Mix) [LBR087]

    09.jpg
Nikko.Z was born in 1985,in Greece. From a very early age,he expressed great affection for music.Bands like Pink Floyd and the Doors had a great influence on him and since then he started looking for more electronic elements and sounds, while thinking seriously of working on electronic music. The djs Sasha and Digweed were and still are his exemplar. After that,of course,Nikko.Z became extremely interested in House, Progressive and Techno sounds.
At the age of 15 he started djing and later on this hobby evolved into a real love for the electronic music.Consequently, due to this passion,he decided to also produce his own tracks. In 2006 he attended the SAE international institute in Athens, and successfully graduated in ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION. The last six years he has been creating his own productions in his studio.

He has also presented his dj sets as a guest at several internet radio stations, such as Frisky Radio, Proton Radio, Dance Radio ao. After 10 years of hard work,Nikko.Z has managed to be mixing his music in quite many clubs both in Greece and abroad( Europe,South America & the USA).

    11. Hazem Beltagui - Here Comes the Sun (Original Mix) [416992]
    11.jpg
Hazem Beltagui was born in Alexandria, Egypt on the 6th of August 1988. He was only 10 when he first fell in love with Dance music and as he grew older he got more into Rock and Metal. In 2008, Hazem started listening again to dance music, mostly Trance as he was inspired by the tunes of Djs and producers like Tiesto, paul van dyk, andy moor, above and beyond, etc. Then, after listening to Deadmau5 and Kaskade’s Move For Me, he madly enjoyed it and started listening to Progressive-House tracks of Deejays like Sasha, Moonbeam, Deadmau5, Steve Angello, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and many more.after spending a lot of time listening to the latest progressive house records, He decided he would start producing some tracks,so he got a copy of ableton live,a midi keyboard and he spent lots of time trying to figure out the music production tehniques and crafting his own sound and style and he actually produced some sample based music and his friends told him that he was was really talented in that, so he got deeper in it and made his first original track “Sharm”,which granted him a place on boltongroove records.

Not too long after releasing sharm and thinking about her and purple night, which was made in collaboration with axel lecoste, under his real name “hazem beltagui”,hazem decided he needed a new moniker under which he would produce and release progressive tracks with bigroom influences and so “NINO ALVAREZ” was born and his first production under this new alias “always and forever” recieved support from some of the biggest djs on the globe,so he decided he would work on new “nino alvarez” material.

    12. Kolsch feat. Troels Abrahamsen - All That Matters (Instrumental Mix) [kompaktdigital021]
    12.jpg
Rune Reilly Kolsch knows how to make club tracks with impact: just check the techno he did as Ink & Needle, for his own Tattoo Recordings label or the more anthemic—but still determinedly functional—work he's done as Kölsch, for Kompakt. But the Danish musician also knows his way around pop hooks: after all, as Rune RK and Enur, he's thrilled the mainstage crowd with fizzy filter disco, Guetta-style electro-house and reggaeton-inflected house hits like the comped-to-death "Calabria."

Despite Kompakt's imprimatur, "All Things Matter" resides at the very poppiest edge of the spectrum: with its svelte chords and epic emotional gestures, it stakes out a position somewhere between M83 and Avicii's "Levels." But don't let that comparison turn you off. Yes, it's swooning, eyes-closed emo-trance to the max, but it's made with enough nuance, tenderness and, for lack of a better word, feeling, that it comes off as genuinely moving.
