Re: Olympic Games
Yah I hear ya, nobody likes an athlete that comes across like a narcissist. But I would just point out what I learned from my friend who ran against Michael Johnson. Track runners on that level have to be very strong minded and basically only consider their own ability and strength because before most races the runners records get announced. During that process the lessor known runners with less records can lose the race before it's begun if they are not singularly focused on themselves. I am willing to bet that is why Gatlin said what he said. He was compensating for the fact that he was running against the fastest human on the planet.
Having said that, 6'5 Usain made it look easy .
I agree that it's not up to me to decide if the amputee has an unfair advantage or not. I lean toward not though because like my friend said, he dared to dream, and dream big! That takes serious courage. And a lot of it is also mental, the guy is simply incredible. The MIT guy last night called him a genetic "freak" comparing him to Jordan, Lebron, and all the greats in sports.
