From my experience (my baby is 4 months now), it is my opinion that I probably will never sleep the same again. I've brought a human being into this world that we are responsible for. That kind of responsibility is so great that a part of me is always thinking about him, even when I sleep .

When I was a baby I started sleeping through the night at 2 months old, that's uncommon, but I was a big baby. The bigger the baby at birth, usually the better they sleep through the night.

My wife and I work it out like this. I have the baby from 9pm - 2:30am. She goes to bed at 9pm. She has the baby from 2:30am - 7:30am. I have the baby most of the day since I work from home, until she gets home at 6:00pm. This week is the first week since we've had our baby that she doesn't have homework. She just finished her MBA . I'm thankful she will get to help more from 6:00pm - 9:30pm.

Lastly, I recommend buying a video monitor, it's been just the right thing for us. Our baby sleeps in his crib, we keep the video monitor on, we know when he needs to be fed and can watch him whenever we hear him moving around (before he starts crying).

It was fun while it lasted...

It is the best. Having another in February.

Florida it gets a lot better. Once the baby starts sleeping through the night it makes it easier on everyone.

^I'm not complaining, my sister has 1 yr old twin girls. She is lucky (literally) if she sleeps 4 hours at night. I avg 6 - 7, and catch up on the weekend. Our baby will be a walk in the park compared to hers, pretty much for a long long time.

have a 2 year old boy and a baby boy due in December. We have just learned that the baby will be born without a left hand. Talk about devastation but we will love just as much as our 2 yr old despite the challenges ahead. We both are looking forward to the new baby.

Jay, I'm sure he'll be fine. We all just saw a guy with no legs competing in the olympics. Good luck man, I still randomly think of the days we had in Miami.

Jay sorry to hear about your boy due in December. It will obviously be very hard at first but with anything it gets better as time progresses. I have a cousin who was born with both ears deaf. That was hard and you cannot imagine the difficulties his parents went through. He is now 12 and about to go to high school next year. Just amazed how well he's grown and how much he has achieved in his life.
