Bedrock's legendary monthly club night returns to the capital for the second in a new series of underground parties at one of London's finest venues.

With our February event selling out in just five days this next instalment welcomes the return of both residents playing extended sets over two rooms.

      Release Notes:

      01. Oberst & Buchner Feat Midimúm - Today I Feel (Ken Hayakawa Remix) [Schönbrunner Perlen | SP002]

Schönbrunner Perlen is a fresh new label from Vienna, launching with the melodic modern house productions of Ken Hayakawa.

After the success ‘Japanese Rose’, the Schönbrunner Perlen crew take it up a notch with their second release which features Oberst & Buchner’s ‘Today I Feel’, remixes and ‘The Devil behind my Shoulder’ by Andreas Buchner on his own.

Andreas Buchner and Sebastian Oberst have their roots in Bavaria, where they started their first band project and experimented with all kinds instruments and musical styles. A few years later both of them found their calling and started buying 12inches and converted to house music. At about the same time they moved to Vienna, became part of the Schönbrunner Techno collective and the result is ‘Today I Feel’ featuring Midimum, the A-side of SP02. Legend says the framework of the song was produced on a very long train ride and elaborated during something they call “a magical night”. Then all they had to do was adding some vocals by Martin Steer, who is also the background singer at Frittenbude, and asking well known photographer Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek for a perfect cover to complete their first release on Schönbrunner Perlen.

      02. Till von Sein feat. Fritz Kalkbrenner & Thalstroem - Blueprint (Kollektiv Turmstrasse Remix) (Reworks 1) [Suol | SUOL 036]

2011 has been a good year for Suol and of course we won't hold back in 2012. The second single "Reworks 1" of Till von Seins Album "#LTD" is first in Feb with amazing remixes by Kollektiv Turmstrasse, SLG and Erdbeerschnitzel.

The release starts with "Blueprint" featuring Fritz Kalkbrenner & Thalstroem. The track already got a lot of attention as part of the album and when we asked the remixers which track they wanna rework, 2 out of 3 decided on working with Fritz's vocals. The original is smooth and groovy ... Till in best form!

Kollektiv Turmstrasse are up next with their interpretation of Blueprint. We are happy to have the guys on board again after a while of absence. Their deliver a brilliant piece ... what we expected. A deep vibe but still driving ... great use of the vocals. The open air season awaits.

Till's friend SLG from Polands finest Pets label also picked Blueprint for his remix and gives us a hint of the polish winter. Industrial, dark pitched vocals, amazing energy and a hint of old school techno gives this one a different direction. Great!

Erdbeerschnitzel is last but not least with his remix for "Tilly's 61 Rhodes Jam". The Suol crew has been banging his track "To An End" up and down the clubs so we wanted him on board for this. Tim didn't let us down. A 99 bpm groover, nothing really where it belongs but everything just right. Warmup at its best!

      04. X-Press 2 Ft. Roland Clark - Let Love Decide (Art Department Remix) [Skint Records | Skint231D]

Earlier in the week, Brighton’s Skint Records released X-Press 2‘s deep and percussive house single ”Let Love Decide,” and we haven’t stopped caning it ever since.

The original comes wrapped with a juicy, clubby vocal from Roland Clark that’s steeped heavily in classic ‘90s Chicago vibes, but the remixes from Art Department and Hercules and Love Affair compatriot Kim Ann Foxman are just as tasty.

The former pares things back a bit, but puts even more oomph into the tune’s relentless kick while testing the breaking point of the bassline’s elasticity. Ms. Foxman’s take, however, sounds like a Miami freestyle jam from ‘87, tightly wound and forward-moving but still hearkening back to the disco floor of yesteryear. They’re all thinking-person’s dance tracks, to be sure, but that doesn’t mean they won’t hit you square in the gut. [Beatportal]

      05. Fur Coat feat. Cari Golden - You And I (Amirali Remix) [Crosstown Rebels CRM092]

Venezuelan production duo Fur Coat is back on Crosstown Rebels, this time armed with the sultry West Coast tones of Cari Golden and bomb of the season, ‘You and I’. Calling in rising star Amirali for remix duty, this essential release has got prime Miami anthem written all over it.

The original ‘You And I’ has long been slaying dance floors at the hands of Damian Lazarus, cloaked in mystery until Art Department let the cat out of the bag at Mexico’s BPM Festival, cementing the track as highly sought after DJ weapon, and leaving ‘Fur Coat’ and those suggestive lyrics on everyone’s lips. A-grade addictive groove, ‘You And I’ is the epitome of deep and sleazy bassline house with the added distinction of Cari Golden’s velvety vocals building an allegorical story of chemistry and intoxicating love.

Exploding onto the scene this year is Iranian/Canadian producer Amirali, already winning over legions of fans with his first two tracks ‘My Way’ and ‘Beautiful World’ and about to secure his place amongst stars of 2012 with debut album ‘In Time’ – out on Crosstown Rebels this Spring. His sound, a heady mix of tech, funk and electronica, Amirali takes ‘You And I’ into a deeply emotive dream world of epic synth-laden melodies whilst Cari’s voice becomes airborne and ethereal.

Fur Coat have been buried deep in the studio of late, crafting their debut LP out on Crosstown later this year. If ‘Space Ballad’ and ‘You And I’ are anything to go by, it will be a seamless collection of tracks to feed the dancefloor all summer long. Growing up streets apart in Venezuela, Sergio Muñoz (Delete) and Israel Sunshine aka Fur Coat joined forces in 2010 after meeting on South America’s blossoming dance music scene and have together mastered the art of dancefloor sorcery. Cari Golden is a classically trained musician from Los Angeles California where she works as a studio vocalist and songwriter. She began collaborating in the EDM world four years ago and has since had several critical successes with Pan-Pot’s Captain ‘My Captain’, DJ T’s ‘City Life’. With this imminent Fur Coat smash, Cari Golden could also be the voice of Miami WMC 2012.

      Release/catalogue number: CRM092

      06. Laura Jones - Love In Me (Maceo Plex Remix) [Leftroom Records | LEFT 028]

Laura Jones’ ‘Love In Me’ has undoubtedly been one of the biggest tracks of the year, prompting Matt Tolfrey to call upon three of the hottest players in the game to remix this dance floor stormer for the next release on the unstoppable Leftroom imprint. Remixers include man of the moment Maceo Plex, golden girl of Chicago Kate Simko and Bristol’s finest fresh talent Eats Everything.

The monumental ‘Love In Me’ was first released on Leftroom in May on ‘The Extended Family Part 2’. An exhilarating ride of deep but seriously melodic uplifting house, this summer anthem achieved prolific support championed by the biggest names in the business including Seth Troxler, Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom and soon became one of the standout tracks that graced all dancefloors from the Miami WMC to the terrace of the notorious DC10. Propelling Laura Jones further into stardom, the track made it to No. 1 in Beatport deep house chart and secured her place as one of the leading ladies in the underground dance scene. A treasured member of the Leftroom family, Laura has been given the creative reigns for this special release, directing the artwork and vinyl colour.

Each of the remixers on board are well known for their own unique and individual styles, which exuberantly shines through in each remix. Finding time between managing his new record label Ellum Audio, releasing a string of smash hits, and relentless touring schedule, Maceo Plex steps up first. Imprinting his signature sound, ‘Love In Me’ turns into a grumbling deep dance floor modern classic, holding preciously on to the melodic ride that drives the original.

Top female force from Chicago, Kate Simko puts a sensual yet driving spin on it with intricate tribal grooves and smooth melodic undertones. Creating a smokey progression of emotive synths, warping stabs, and teases of the original melody, Kate’s remix delivers an airy injection of sexiness while keeping true to the original.

Hailing from the heart of the burgeoning Bristol camp, Eats Everything makes his mark on ‘Love In Me’ with a raw bouncy percussion, Chicago vibe and garage bass line. Having secured his place as a firm favourite in the Radio 1 headquarters and fast becoming a name on everyone’s lips, its no surprise that Matt Tolfrey called upon this rising star to round off this massive release.

      07. Philip Bader / Niconé / Sascha Braemer – Dantze, Boy [Dantze | DTZ018]

Dantze is the German digital label run by Philip Bader. Boy is the flip-side of the Dantze Girl/Boy EP that came out in August 2011.

      08. Simon Garcia - Bass II Bass [Poker Flat Recordings | PFR 126]

Following his successful ‚Tears In Vain‘ 12‘‘ on Perspectiv, promising new producer Simon Garcia continues his quest for the holy-grail of modern house and techno as we set forth into ‚Cavern‘.

And indeed ‚Cavern‘ is a breathtaking ride - a warm pulsating synth pattern is coaxed along by a dusty, filtered kick before we are greeted with rushing bright percussion and a thunderous lead kick. Wild FX open up the floor with the first ecstatic break and from there on the track runs with a mind of its own, exploding with rapturous drama and tasteful restraint.

Bringing us back down to earth at least for a moment. ‚Bass II Bass‘ treads more swinging, groovy territories in a classic NY styled house track, updated for 2012. Freaky, pitching vocals swirl around a tight bass-led rhythm section, telling a futuristic story of hopeless hedonism.

The emotive-piano house vibes of ‚Options‘ will likely raise a few tingling hairs for those well acquainted with Steve Bug‘s recent DJ sets. The perfect blinded-by-the-morning-sun moment, Mr. Garcia really shows of his classy production skills with this slinky, moody slice of classic house.

As a digital bonus, there‘s a Wagon Cookin‘ remix of ‚Cavern‘ that pushes into trippy, nu-disco zones. Tripped-out sax and synth tones swirl in the background while a hot 80s-inspired groove leads a funky beatdown - perfect for the earlier hours of the night.

      09. Electric Rescue - Dope (John Digweed & Nick Muir Remix) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-13r]
      20. Electric Rescue - Dope (Stephan Bodzin Hope Remix) [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-13r]

2011 Summer smash given the remix treatment to Digweed & Muir. Massive when road-tested at XOYO earlier in the year.

The reception for Electric Rescue’s original version of Dope (BEDDIGI13), released at the tail end of 2011, was nothing short of exceptional. A huge tune in John Digweed’s sets for months before release, this Balearic techno monster combined the elegance of Detroit attitude with the groove of a big room tune, like no other. Underground and eclectic, it went overground in a big way!

Now, Bedrock brings you an absolutely superb remix package that is sure to cause a equally huge commotion. Electric Rescue revisits Dope and tweaks and twists the original into a brand new (and no less massive) anthem for summer 2012. On remix duty, John Digweed and Nick Muir show that they never rest on past laurels and are always developing their sound in an exciting direction, by producing a massive, low-slung, throbbing house interpretation. To round off the package in style, German master-producer Stephan Bodzin takes Dope on an exotic electro-techno journey that is pure autobahn driving material, the quality and authenticity of his re-production a testament to studio skills that can only come from years of dedicated time spent in the studio.

Few French electronic music artists combine experience, avant-gardism and guaranteed success on dance floors as Electric Rescue (aka Antoine Husson) does. With his reputation already flying high in France via his residency at the Rex Club (check out the superb Skryptöm parties) and also organising Play rave parties in Paris, his Dope is once again set to be incredibly popular worldwide.

      10. Maceo Plex - Deez Nuts [Ellum Audio | ELL004]

Ellum Audio gets set to unleash the 'Ellum Sleazy Riders Collection' - a funk fuelled drive along a deep and dirty underground house highway featuring Balearic bikers Maceo Plex, Jacek Janicki, Sync Mode (Nitin) and Luke Solomon blazing a sonic trail across the dusty savannah of the musical badlands...

Delivering the funk on cue, label boss and man of the moment Maceo Plex kicks things off with 'Deez Nuts', getting super 'freaky' with a sensuous electro vibe and deep sleazy vocal. The warm flow of melodic keys combined with the deep grumbling chords make this dirty electric groove and one that you will blow your mind!

Lifting the tempo, Polish tech-head Jacek Janicki strikes a positive note with his 'New Tomorrow', a chuggy, driving electronic groove-fest full of aspiration and positivity as heard in Rob Meulman's vocals giving this smooth groove a real modern twist. Producing for over ten years it seems that the time has finally come for this talented producer to really shine.

On the flip Sync mode aka Canadian DJ and producer Nitin slows the pace down with 'Energy', a purple inspired funky deep driver with a real fruity twist. The powerful stabbing synths, deep rolling bass and catchy slowly break beat perfectly underpin the prince-like vocal of this saucy slow-jam. As well as running No. 19 Music alongside Art Department's Jonny White, home to the Maceo Plex hit 'Under The Sheets' Nitin has released on labels BBE, My Favourite Robot and also featured on the Crosstown Rebels 'Get Lost 4' compilation. Sync Mode is clearly a kindred spirit to the Ellum Audio imprint.

Hero of the underground music scene, Lukatron aka Luke Solomon provides a touch of class to round off this special v/a. 'VGA' embodies a raw house sound of the highest quality, with its subtle shakes, deep chords and layered synth structure perfectly bring this music journey to a close. Following a string of successful releases on labels such as Rekids and Crosstown Rebels alongside running his record label Classic Recordings with Derrick Carter, its no surprise that Ellum Audio are thrilled to have this legend on board.

      11. Stelios Vassiloudis - West (Bedrock_Underground Sounds of Miami LP [Bedrock Records | Bed_USoM]
      12. Sasse & Stelios Vassiloudis - Benedict (Bedrock_Underground Sounds of Miami LP [Bedrock Records | Bed_USoM]
      16. Pig & Dan, Mark Reeve & Dean Demanuele - Machines (Bedrock_Underground Sounds of Miami LP [Bedrock Records | Bed_USoM]

“We’ve been wanting to do a Miami sampler for the last few years now, showcasing some of the great artists we work with on the label but other projects and releases got in the way of letting us do this. However this year we have been very fortunate to be in a position where we not only had some amazing music but also some time to get this organised so we could do it properly. I have also been able to road test all of the tracks at gigs since the start of January and the reactions to the music has been amazing so it seemed perfectly apt to put a release together that we can focus on around Miami and the Bedrock showcase parties there.” [John Digweed]

“The wealth of artists involved is truly amazing and it was great to get Pig&Dan involved along with artists who we have worked with in the past, like Robert Babicz, Wehbba, Guy J and Stelios Vassiloudis. Ultimately, I’m really happy with the release and can foresee a lot of these tracks carrying on into the summer season for a lot of DJs.” [John Digweed]

Take, Sirenize, the latest project involving Rowan Blades and rising star Dennis White (aka Thermal Bear on Traum). This duo never compromises, always staying true to the underground with a strict artistic ethos & integrity, as opening track, ‘Everybody’, proves.

From ambient soundscapes, downtempo vocal tracks and slo-mo house, through to deliciously deep house, tech-house and acid grooves, the supremely exciting debut artist album from Greece’s Stelios Vassiloudis, “It Is What It Is” on Bedrock, showed the world that variety is the spice of life. So it’s no wonder that Stelios makes two appearances here: flying solo on the inspired ‘West’ and teaming up with sometime collaborator Sasse (aka Klas Lindblad from Finland) on ‘Benedict’. Sasse’s first releases came out on the legendary Sähkö/Puu as Freestyle Man and rightly are considered a milestone in the Scandinavian house sound. His Moodmusic and Sunday Music labels are highly respected worldwide, so his production skills are up there with the best, as ‘Benedict’ shows.

Germany’s Robert Babicz has a music career that already spans nearly two decades, comprising five albums and multiple singles. The mark of a true musical innovator, he continues to reveal his talent and skill as one of Europe’s most essential techno producers. His contribution here, ‘Echo From The Past’, is yet another stunning creation from this hero to many.

Guy J’s brand new track ‘Shining’ (BEDGJDIGI01) and the hot remixes of tracks from his critically acclaimed ‘1000 Words’ album, have been setting floors alight since the start of 2012, so its no surprise that ‘Nightstalker’ is yet another absolute gem. As one of the standout electronic artists in the world today, Guy J is at the forefront of a movement towards the melody-rich and emotionally charged roots of the house music spectrum.

Canada’s Maher Daniel & Casa (aka Mike Casa) are both upcoming, pivotal figures on the Montreal scene. Daniel’s remix of Tone Depth’s ‘Rumblefish’ (Bedrock) was #1 on Beatport’s techno charts for over two and a half months, cementing a relationship with the label that sees ‘Music, Machines & Life’ introducing a very exciting vibe to the proceedings here. A low-slung, heavy hitting tech monster is the order of the day.

Hailing from Brazil, Wehbba is one of the latest additions to Brazil’s fine history of innovative techno producers. He made a big impression with his remix of Christian Smith’s ‘Flyertalk’ on John Digweed’s ‘Structures’ album, leading this dentist graduate, licensed diver and Jiu Jitsu fighter to have his debut track, ‘Mammut’ included on ‘Bedrock 12’. Now, with the bouncy percussive beauty of ‘Motone’ he makes an exciting, welcome return.

If you’re talking about exciting underground producers it would be rude not to mention Igor Tchkotoua and Dan Duncan (aka Pig&Dan), since 1999 their distinctive mixture of influences has given them a sound that is both innovative and easily recognizable. Their Sonic Society label and relationship with Sven Vath’s Cocoon family have led to global respect for this dynamic duo. Teaming up with English ex-pat, Mark Reeve and Malta’s Dean Demanuele has led to a truly international melting pot of hip-swinging, groovy rhythms on ‘Machines’.

Few French electronic music artists combine experience, avant-gardism and guaranteed success on dance floors as Electric Rescue (aka Antoine Husson) does. His distinctive brand of ultra-dynamic techno and sensuality has already proved itself on Bedrock. ‘Dope’ (BEDDIGi13) was a Balearic techno monster, combining the elegance of Detroit attitude to the groove of a big room tune. The highly hypnotic ‘All Access’ with fellow French prodigy, Timid Boy (aka Damien Almira) is equally amazing here.

Catalan producer and DJ Marc Dosem is unquestionably one of the hottest rising stars in the underground electronic dance scene. His bold debut album, “Parallel” (Sino), was released to much critical acclaim in the summer of 2011, further cementing growing respect, having already unleashed massive tunes such as “Silent Drop” and “Beach Kisses”. Dosem’s stunning remix of Henry Saiz ‘La Marea’ (BED100R) was a highlight of 2011. His unrivalled ability to harness glistening melodies, taking listeners on a trip through wondrous realms of emotion, are supreme on ‘How Do You Do It’, a fitting finale to what is an extraordinary collection of the finest underground electronic dance music.

Once again, it’s hats off to Bedrock for raising the bar even higher with this exceptional compilation. In this day and age to not only survive as an independent label, but also to flourish and constantly evolve, bringing forward new and exciting talent, is something that should be applauded.

      14. Alan Fitzpatrick - Life Through Different Eyes [Drumcode | DC91]

Alan Fitzpatrick’s latest EP is the product of a particularly productive six months of studio time for the Drumcode regular. Containing five tracks that cover a circular range from pre-party ambiance to tripped-out melodic odyssey; vocal laced, chord driven hooks; barnstorming peak-time hammers; and 123bm afterparty grooves; there is more than the usual Drumcode fare on offer within the aptly named Life Through Different Eyes EP. A significant release for artist and label; the sonic incarnation of Fitzpatrick’s growing maturity as a producer and an indication as to the next evolution of the Drumcode sound.

      17. Klankarbeit feat. Nina Kinert - Art Is Hard [EC Records | EC092]

It's not often you hear a track that instantly transports you to the sun-washed climbs of Miami and rapturous dancefloors of Ibiza - but from the moment this tune kicks in - bang, you're there!Around one year ago the guys from Dutch duo Klankarbeit, decided to approach all round house and techno don - Michel de Hey - with a bunch of fresh tracks. And upon listening, one particular tune stuck out like the Eiffel Tower to the EC Records boss - enter the Nina Kinert caressed - 'Art Is Hard'...Now,

      18. PillowTalk - Strange Love (Brett Johnson Dub Remix) [Bang The Box SF | BTBO008]

As their biog suggests, with a name like Pillowtalk its hardly a surprise that the San Francisco trio take such an intimate approach to dance music. Comprised of three long-time players on the SF scene - Sammy D, Michael Tello and Ryan Williams - Pillowtalk first debuted their wonderfully sultry productions last summer on Visionquest. This was soon followed by an ep for Life And Death, before rounding out 2011 with their genre-busting 'Far From Heaven' ep for Wolf + Lamb.

Today the trio come with their fourth release and their debut for Brett Johnson & Lance DeSardi's Bang The Box imprint. "We first heard Strange Love on a bus to a Sunset party in SF (if ya don’t know, ask somebody), and signed it right then and there. Sammy’s signature vocal styling, Mikey’s production, and Ryan’s distinct musicality combine for a slow house masterpiece." - Lance.

To back the stunning original, BTB have drafted in mixes from John Tejada and label chief Brett Johnson... and... provided us with a the killer acapella. As Lance puts it... "This is a sure fire release for anybody with a pulse!

      Enjoy!

Wish there were more uptempo portions of these sets aired every once in a while.

It's always the first 2-3 hours and hardly ever the peak hours, unless the set is leaked, which is rare all in itself.

                            Come on Digweed.

If you like this set and want more send your comments to feedback@johndigweed.com

Remember the show is aired across the globe and runs at different times ... so all out bangin' techno on daytime radio may not suite everyone.

Although Transitions does get heavier towards the end of each episode and Umek was tanking it on his guest mix the other week

Main thing, be +ve ... enjoy the sounds and share your thoughts i.e. participate.
