September 2012 sees the arrival of a new clubnight on the Manchester clubbing scene. Launching at the intimate Joshua Brooks venue in the heart of the city, Xpansion aims to bring you the best underground House & Techno DJs from around the globe. The launch party on September 8th kicks off in style with a 3hr headline set from French man Rodriguez Jr (Mobilee Records). Previously one half of critically acclaimed French duo The Youngsters, Olivier Mateu (as he's known to the taxman) has been releasing exceptional solo material under the Rodriguez Jr. moniker since 2006. Ranging from shimmering electronica through to deep and urgent techno Rodriuez Jr. isn't a man to be pigeonholed. Taking musical cues from the likes of Stockhausen, LFO, Carl Craig, Eric Satie, Kraftwerk, and Michael Polnareff, Rodriguez Jr.’s spirit of adventure translates as soaring creativity.
Just reading through his discography and listening to his extensive body of work its not hard to see why he is one of the most talent artists on the circuit. We are certainly excited to be welcoming him to the intimacy of the Joshua Brooks basement for what promises to be exceptional opening party.
