(Rebellion der Träumer Remixes Part 3)

“Schwindelig” from Kollektiv Turmstrasse was definitely the most successful track from their album “Rebellion der Träumer”. Reason enough for us to use it for our first remix competition in cooperation with Junodownloads. The participants definitely did not make it easy for us. We didn’t expect so many high quality interpretations. We had submissions ranging from ambientish ear candies to proper emo-step, from frickel-beat to mädchen-techno.

In the end, we decided on nine winner remixes. Eight remixes will be part of the digital package, while three will be released physically on vinyl, including one vinyl exclusive. Of course, some interpretations do not mirror the sound you are used to hearing from us, but we think this is not the goal of a remix competition. We find we have found a great selection, and we hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. The over-all winner by the way, chosen by Kollektiv Turmstrasse, is Clemens Ruh with his incredibly deep and touching piece of music.

In autumn, we will present the fourth and last part of the “Rebellion der Träumer” remix series. We are more than proud to have two extraordinary acts on the remix duties to close this project. More information coming soon…

    03. Rodriguez Jr. - Ocean Drive (Muppet Anthem EP) [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE 095]

Only five releases away from the 100th, Rodriguez Jr. delivers on the 095 with a generous 4-track, digital only edition titled "Muppet Anthem".

The self-titled number makes up the first track on the EP with a pleasant array of upbeat house-party elements and groovy vocals making this piece of work totally dance-floor worthy in the heat of the summer.

Seething down to the second track, "Ocean Drive" takes it down a notch by starting the track with exotic and tropical elements as it progresses into a high peak of faster beats and steady keyboard strikes. Its a number that will leave your feet grounded as your swaying shoulders and bobbing head lead the dance.

"Satellite" comprises the third number an emotional hymn bursting with soulful vocals and periodic tambourine jingles and jangles. Enjoy this eye closer preferably with your head back and arms reaching towards the sky.

Closing out the set is "Palo Alto", a high tempo number with various calculated beats one setting off the next. Crying vocals wrapped in multi-faceted elements will leave even your goosebumps dancing.

The French producer/DJ has a stupendous track record with mobilee and its sister label, Leena. In 2011 he released his very first album titled "Bittersweet" on the mobilee imprint. The summer of 2012 has seen weekly gigs throughout Europes favorite beach bars and waterfront clubs with Rodriguez Jr.

    05. Sassafras - The Underworld (Paul Loraine's Dub) [Indigo Raw | IR013]

Spains Indigo Raw fires up again with a superb single from the multi-national production team Sassafras featuring remixes from Hatikvah , Paul Loraine & Vlad Malinovskiy...After a brief hiatus the Indigo Raw imprint kicks back into life with the debut production from Barcelona based production outfit Sassafras. Sassafras comprises of label bosses Mirus (Norway) & Paul Loraine (U.K), Dominic Plaza (Sweden) and vocalist Nikol Kollars (Hawaii) all have whom have come together with a shared passion for quality electronic music.

The Underworld sees the intercontinental crew drop a captivating, Shroom-esque narrative over sensual tech beats. To expand the package the talents of three hot artists are enlisted to add their own interpretation of Kollars highly personal story telling. The original track starts with dry drums and the sultry uttering of Nikol Kollars, with a stripped back pulse beneath her, she unravels the story of a dark underworld that she feels intrinsically part of. Her intensely personal delivery picks at the understanding of party culture and will find resonance with all true lovers of the electronic scene.Hatikvahs remix is dark and pumping, with otherworldly synths creating space for the track to soar. Firm drums help to drive home the darker side of the story, with Kollars firmly in the driving seat.

Now fully on board behind the scenes at Indigo Raw, Paul Loraine rolls out a muscular reinterpretation. Subtly twisting and playing with the vocal over a marching tribal beat, Loraine shifts the focus of the track. From a meandering afterhours ode, the vocal now pulls no punches, finding itself squarely on the floor.Adding bounce to the package, newcomer to Indigo Raw, Vlad Malinovskiy draws out the human tones, upping the sex factor with a lighter, rushing remix. Keeping things percussive and energetic, his addition works in contrast to the other tracks, rounding off the EP in assertive style..This is a superb return from the Indigo Raw label and an extremely promising debut from the collective known as Sassafras, enjoy!

    06. Kazell - Temporary Bliss [Release Musiq | RMQ013]

Scene veteran Kazell returns to Release Musiq for an electrifying new single titled "Temporary Bliss." The U.K.-native, L.A.-transplanted producer is known for his DJ sets and productions comprised of an electric and refreshing fusion of dub, tribal, and breaks layered over a tech-house foundation. His tracks have made their way to labels like Bedrock, Audio Therapy, and Lost Language and have been featured on compilations from icons like Sander Kleinenberg and Nick Warren. This sound caught the attention of Sasha and John Digweed who had Kazell join them on the eighteen dates of their Spring Club Tour 2008.

"Temporary Bliss" is a spaced-out, tech-house cruiser with some light proggy touches and an aim to ignite the dance floor. The pulsating drive that is the center of the track rarely lets up, with a lush soundscape of scintillating synth pads and dubby electronic enhancements giving the cut loads of vibrancy. It's an intricate nightclub journey, well-suited for placing within extended, after hours sets.

A first remix comes courtesy of the production pair Dathan and Kri. The Release Musiq label founder and psychedelic festival DJ combine forces for the evocative Alien Tripster Mix, bringing a more electronic edge to Kazell's original. An insistent, pounding rhythm signifies this peak time treatment with transformed effects, trippy embellishments, and a devilishly effective breakdown section that will take the club by surprise.

Finally, the duo of Armando & Greggor, who last appeared on Release Musiq's acclaimed Occupy The Gruv EP, remix "Temporary Bliss" into a bass heavy groover with dubbed-out keyboard elements, building white noise whooshes, and a very moody vibe. It's somewhat stripped down feel and tribal-influenced rhythm could make this a favorite of some of the more discerning DJs out there. These three cuts effortlessly make up another winning, club-primed package from Release Musiq.

Great show this week ... fantastic Turmstrasse remixes and I love the Kazell track (Hernan played it on Resident last weekend) + nice to see emerging DJ/Producer Raxon nab the guest slot

If you like all things Kazell ... then make sure you check out his warmup set for John's recent Mexico Tour. He's a great DJ that has been tried and tested by Sasha and Diggers on tour, plus Kazell is resident at Avalon in LA.
