Naked man chases off burglar
Mar 23 2005
A NAKED man saw off a burglar who broke into his flat above The Lamb Inn at Hungerford, on Saturday - and even flung the would-be thief across the bonnet of his getaway car after chasing him into the street.
The flat owner was surprised just after 11am on Sunday in his home above the pub in Charnham Street.
Police are hoping people who were in queuing traffic on the A4 at the time may recall the incident and come forward as witnesses.
The man tried to grab the burglar's shirt, but the slippery man wriggled out and got into his getaway car, a red Ford Escort.
His accomplice managed a three-point turn in the queue of traffic and then sped off towards Marlborough.
The offender is 5ft 9ins, pudgy, with bad acne and dark hair.
He may well also be bruised after his scuffle with the naked man. Police are now hoping a member of the public will come forward with information about the driver of the vehicle.
Anyone with information should contact Tracy Cole or Adrian Fisher at Newbury CID via the police inquiry centre on 0845 8 505 505, or leave a message with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
