04. André Winter - White Lie (Spectrum E.P.) [Ideal Audio | Ideal023-6]
2010 was the last time we heard an original production from André Winter and the same year that Ideal Audio played home to his brace of hits "Magma" and "Gallopper." Today the studio genius returns with his latest double header, "Blackmail" and "White Lie."
Having released under the aliases of Motion Unit and D-Saw, produced together with and for, Oliver Huntemann and worked on remixes for the likes of the Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Extrawelt, January 2009 saw André Winter release his first solo single on Ideal. "Trauma" was an instant success and after a break to produce Oliver Huntemann's third studio album, André returned with his track "Helene" on Terence Fixmer's From Jupiter label and "Dogma" here again at Ideal. 2010 saw his double release on the label and since that time he has been applying his studio expertise to the music of others.
It has been a while, but boy are we glad to have him back and in better form than ever. "Blackmail" with its haunting and scything riffs, huge atmospheric breaks and slow-groove bassline, make for a sinister and yet funky techno workout. "White Lies" rolls with the snare and huge bass melody. Again André brings the funk, heightened further as the synth chords build and filter before the snare snaps back. These may be from Winter but both are set to be summer smashes!

05. Dub Taylor - So Called Life [Connect Four | C4-010]
The deeper sister to Tic Tac Toe, Connect Four is back with a new EP from German producer Dub Taylor aka Tigerskin aka Alex Krüger. He has been crafting away in this warm, deep house realm for years under a number of different aliases, always weaving plenty of liquid grooves with a steady house pulse. The two original tracks served up here continue in that fine tradition.
Opener ‘So Called Life’ is thick with rattling; rumbling synths and a deliciously underlapping house rhythm that sweeps you up every time it breaks. Some obscured, indecipherable male vocals lurk in the shadows to add an air of mystery and it’s a track you may well have already heard in sets by the likes of German tastemaker Till Von Sein and many others.
Support from: Lee Jones, Sebo K, Jackmate, Agnes, And.id, Joris Voorn, Gerd, Martin Landsky, Fritz Zander, Anthony Collins, Motorcitysoul, Till von Sein, Robert Dietz, Ryan Crosson and many more.....

06. Rampa & Re.You - The Track [International Deejay Gigolos | GIGOLO 292]
From the horses mouth: "Gigolo is thrilled to unveil "The Track", a definitively titled statement from Rampa & Re.You, made with a secret recipe set to sizzle, shuffle and stomp on a dance-floor near you.
Rampa & Re.You return with "The Track", hand-crafted with a hearty bounce, then battered and deep-friend with crispy house beats. The real hook, though, is the insistent vocal chant that loops and layers upon itself like a deconstructed ode to hip-house, providing an anchor for the playful percussion to gallop around. Then, "To the Floor" continues with a similar sound palette, but with a groove influenced more by 80s electro, spattering haphazard beats in all directions with a mind-melting breakdown that drags the BPM down into the gutter. Finally, to round out the EP, Amsterdam's ONNO (of Upon. You Records) offers a schizoid, dubbed out remix of "The Track" that aims to pull all your multiple personalities onto the dance-floor."
07. Tiga - Pleasure From The Bass (Subb-an Remix) [Crosstown Rebels | CRM100]
For the momentous Crosstown Rebels #100, one of electronic music’s great innovators makes his long-awaited comeback as Tiga. The Montreal avant-gardist’s first original work in four years ‘The Picture’ is big, bad and heavy in every sense. Factor in an outstanding remix of ‘Pleasure From The Bass’ from wonder boy Subb-an and you have a very special landmark release indeed.
Tiga has always had a knack of injecting freaky character into the tantalizing late night music he crafts and with ‘The Picture’, Tiga literally bulldozes all expectation giving Crosstown Rebels an unforgettable flash of rave imbued dark pop-electro tech. Assuming the transcendent verse of Prince, Tiga’s echoing vocals glower like iridescent petrol as the trippy, molten sound wall of bleeps and beats propel this inexorable dance-floor slayer.
Killing it on every level right now, Rebels favourite and One Records boss Subb-an brings Tiga’s dance classic ‘Pleasure From The Bass’ up to date with a wonky logic and deeper swing on the drums adding spaciousness to the groove. With Tiga’s penetrating vocal in tact along with fresh tweaks of acid, Subb-an’s badboy bass-line bumps towards a medley of spooky keys evoking a ghostbusters rave scene and although undeniably groovy, Subb-an’s rework still fizzes with electric shocks and twists.
Tiga has wowed the electronic universe with his ghostly fluorescent sonic beams since ‘Sunglasses At Night’ first dropped on City Rockers in 2001, when a longstanding friendship with then label boss Damian Lazarus was born. Now with Lazarus about to enter the tenth year of his pioneering Crosstown Rebels imprint, it is fitting that the two should entwine in this destiny for the milestone #100.
Besides a head spinning career as DJ and producer, Tiga has been running Turbo Recordings since 1998 - home to some of the most cutting edge, genre-crossing brilliance out there with releases from Chromeo, Azari & III and Tiga himself - as well as lately delivering a smoking trail of high-profile remixes. It would take all night to even glaze over the story of Tiga’s career but it’s safe to say it’s been one full of colourful decadence and a disregard for the norm. Both Tiga and Crosstown are true trendsetters and together they are a potent combination.
08. Dibby Dougherty + David Young - Fine Day (DhARMA Rekonstruction) [Soundcloud | Free Download]

09. Gregor Tresher - About A Good Place [Cocoon Recordings | COR12"098]
Gregor Tresher and Cocoon are linked by a long-time relationship which starts all the way back in 2004, when Sven Väth played Gregor's productions in heavy rotation. "Neon", "Full Range Madness", "The Now People" or "Still", just to name a few, can be considered as Techno classics of the Noughties. Almost ten years later, Gregor has established his position and is one of Germany's top notch techno producers. With "About A Good Place", he delivers his long overdue EP debut for Cocoon Recordings. He plays his favourite game straight to the point, with massive analogue synth lines, fat kick drums and hi hats that force you to move: This is adrenaline for the big floors on the planet, those with the real fat PAs!
The title tune "About A Good Place" is one of Sven's secret weapons in his recent sets and breathes Tresher-air XXL! It's all about that crazy, detuned synth line that grows bigger and bigger and results in pure harmony at the great breakdown in the middle of the track. The massive kick drum adds what you need to let the sun shine and wave your hands up in the air!
"Lifecycles" follows that vibe, but digs a bit deeper and adds more sensitivity to Tresher's Techno formula, with all the elements that we already know from "About A Good Place". Crazy arpeggio lines, filter moves and the mandatory dark bass line: hypnotic techno with no chance to escape!
Last but not least, there is "The Sun Sequencer" – the dignified answer to the preliminary techno bangers. More relaxed, with slight touches of House and Trance, "The Sun Sequencer" should be the right choice for fans of Chymera and Slam. Imagine the rising sun at an open air festival site or use this as your first tune for the next after hour – this is the sound of the summer of 2012.

Re: Transitions 419 - John Digweed with a guest mix by System Of Survival
cheers guys.
Kollective Turmstrasse seem to be killing it lately...I think a track (with a few opening tracks) on almost every Digweed mix for the past month or so, not a bad thing at allComment

Yeh .. must admit, I love the atmospheric openings.
There have been some classics and unexpected treasures : Dub Archanoid Trim - Floatribe [Life Line] has always stuck in my head from 2003.
'Playing alongside Kaoru Inoue aka Chari Chari at the popular Tokyo party from which the single draws its’ name “Floatribe", Dub Archanoid Trim has quickly become a leader among the new evolution of Japanese city style music. With productions for Irma Records, Ultima and File, this single irradiates dance floor mentality with dub infused projections. Rolling beats combine with keys of techno ambience emerging into sounds for techno, house and electronica musical enthusiasts.'
