    Re: James Holden Live?

I saw him at cielo live

not the best mixer in the world -- but some solid tracks.
He was good, but not as good as you would think he is coming from his productions

judging by the looks of him he is on a lot of drugs.

    ie he's like 90 lbs

      Re: James Holden Live?

I've seen him twice. The first time was at Sullivan Room not too long after Balance came out. His tracks were similar to the CD and also breakier. It was ok, nothing special. Then I saw him at Cielo about 6 months ago. This time it was a lot more minimal / tech house and electro. (or at least what qualifies as electro these days but really isn't) I was very impressed this time around. I like the direction he's taking. As for his mixing: He's really only started DJ'ing extensively since Balance came out and did well. Before that he was mainly a producer. So while his mixing needs work, he does work at it and I've noticed a difference between the times I've seen him. He'll never be a Digweed with his mixing but with some time I think he'll be servicable...

I've seen him once and loved it. And his mixing was really good, so maybe he's improved on that...

He improved a lot a while ago I heard, probably due to DJing more, etc. When was the last release by Holden?

I have his 3 pat mix from the Hague last April, 04, and it's very good..better than most...maybe his technical mixing skills are not the best, but he has great track selection....i dunno...maybe i'm just a fan of that kind of music, however you classify it...

I saw him spin live for the first time at the WMC this year at the Border Community Party@ Bed. He killed it. Amazing selection, flow and mixing. One of the best shows of the conference for me. Totally worked the crowd. Saw him again the next day at the RRR BBQ, he delivered again. He is definitly playing techier, post electro grooves, future tech as I like to call it, but still very twisted and emotional. He's on the cutting edge and his productions are way ahead of his time.

Saw him a couple of times here in Holland. He's oke, but he plays the same records over and over (if...you are spoiled by mp3 sets). He should renew more often.
