    Release Notes:

    01. John Digweed & Nick Muir - Raise [Bedrock Digital | Beddigi-25]

With a huge buzz already building around the forthcoming “Bedrock 14” album, featuring a stunning remix of “Raise” by Electric Rescue, here comes the spine-tingling, big-room beast of an original version from John Digweed and Nick Muir, accompanied by two additional remixes from the rising French techno star.

In its original form “Raise” is super-energetic, brimful with tension. Electric Rescue takes this blueprint and injects his distinctive brand of ultra-dynamic techno and sensuality to create two exceptional remixes.

John Digweed and Nick Muir, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries ever further forward. With “Raise” they shows they never rest on past laurels but are always moving forward, developing their music in an exciting direction.

Antoine Husson (whose “Dope” is still a highlight in many DJ sets around the world) never fails to impress. Few French electronic music artists combine experience, avant-gardism and guaranteed success on dance floors as he does. With his reputation already flying high in France via his residency at the Rex Club (check out the superb Skryptöm parties) and also organising Play rave parties in Paris, Electric Rescue is set to be a huge star.

“Bedrock 14”, the 2012 label compilation, captures the essence of why electronic dance music is such an exciting prospect right now by showcasing a wealth of amazing underground talent, both established and new. Compiled by John Digweed, it features 21 exclusive tracks from some of Bedrock’s favourite artists and some exciting new names, in a DJ-friendly unmixed format.

Finally, don’t miss the “Bedrock 14” album launch at the Bedrock Anniversary (06.10.12 @ Fire & Lightbox Complex, Vauxhall, London) with John Digweed (Extended set), Apparat (DJ set), Amirali (Live), Edu Imbernon, Maxime Dangles and Electric Rescue, in an all night session.

    Release/catalogue number: BEDDIGI25
    Release date: Sep 17, 2012

    03. Guy J - Mish Mash [Bedrock Records | Bed14Vin2]

“I’m really happy with the 21 tracks I have selected for this latest Bedrock compilation. With a mixture of Bedrock favourites and fresh new producers this album shows that Bedrock is always committed to finding the best electronic music out there.” - John Digweed

The wealth of artists involved for Bedrock 14 is truly amazing. This 2012 label compilation captures the essence of why electronic dance music is such an exciting prospect right now by showcasing amazing underground talent, both established and new.

What a dream start to what should be a highly successful career for Eagles & Butterflies. The album opens with the beautifully mellow “Kollekt”, the first of two debut tracks (the other being the equally adventurous “Stimmer”) from this new artist. Likewise, Kurtz & Bomber, an exciting collaboration between Troy Kurtz & Panic Bomber (Richard Haig) from Miami, USA debut here with the incredibly infectious vocalized “Never Sleeping”.

John Digweed’s ability to draw together an exciting array of international talent into one cohesive whole is pretty much unparalleled. “Resistance”” by Stuttgart’s Solee, shows exactly why he crosses divides and spans genres with his distinctive take on evocative melodic techno. Spain’s Paneoh (who also appeared on “Structures 2” and “Live In Cordoba”) displays all his hyper-energetic twisted brilliance on “Vetabom”, while one of Australia’s most talented and sought after music producers, Infusion’s Jamie Stevens, makes a welcome return to Bedrock (after his exceptional remix of John Digweed’s “Warung Beach”) with “Indigo”.

Rising UK star, Liverpool’s Jemmy, is given the lush remix treatment on his hypnotic “Quarry Bank” track by Greece’s Stelios Vassiloudis, whose critically acclaimed debut album, “It Is What It Is”, showed the world that variety is indeed the spice of life. So, it’s no wonder that Stelios makes three appearances on Bedrock 14, adding his wild acidic grooved “What’s That?” to the proceedings and teaming up with Florian Kruse and Nils Nurnberg as Wiretappeur for “Iridescent”, another example of this trio’s highly original and deep understanding of the power of melody.

Bedrock’s new talent is in exceptional form throughout. Canada’s Maher Daniel teams up NYC’s Nikko Gibler for the low-slung, spiralling beauty of “I’ll Wait For You”. Maxime Dangles has grown to be a key new artist in the French avant-garde electronic music community and is creating waves around the globe with his unabashed approach to proper club techno music, so its not surprise that “Unsteady Curve” is yet another example of his amazing music. Fellow rising French star, Antoine Husson (aka Electric Rescue), brings his distinctive brand of ultra-dynamic techno and sensuality to the party with an exceptional remix of John Digweed & Nick Muir’s “Raise” and his own monster creation, “Stucked Ship”.

Israeli producer Guy J has become one of the most sophisticated and emotive producers in electronic music over the last decade, with a body of work and a sphere of influence that belies relatively short time in the spotlight. With the melody-rich and emotionally charged “Mish Mash”, he shows exactly why he is one of the most inspirational artists in the world. As are Spain’s Marc Marzenit and Henry Saiz, whose “Sirens Land” explains why their complex and emotive form of electronic club music is exciting so many people right now.

So much exceptional talent is on display on Bedrock 14 and we haven’t even mentioned Germany’s Robert Babicz, whose music career already spans two decades. The mark of a true musical innovator, he continues to reveal his talent and skill as one of Europe's most essential techno producers here with another stunning creation, “Eastside”. Then there’s another Bedrock favourite, the techno tastemaker Christian Smith with “The Judgement”, showing exactly why he has operated at the top of his game for over a decade now. The chiming keys of Marco Bailey’s “Whispering Leaves” effortlessly lift the proceedings to anthem level and Quivver (aka world-renowned DJ/producer/songwriter John Graham) never fails to impress, “Fakes and Bullshit” sending out a clear message.

If you’re talking about exciting underground producers, two of the first names out of anyone’s hat should always be Igor Tchkotoua and Dan Duncan (aka Pig & Dan) and their intense “Crazy” is surely a highlight here too. Finally, it’s fitting that John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, bring the show to a close with their “Trezz Intro” interlude, since between them they have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & push the boundaries further. With Bedrock 14, the label also shows that it is not resting on past laurels but always moving forward, developing in an exciting direction.

So, once again, it’s hats off to Bedrock for raising the bar even higher with this exceptional compilation featuring 21 exclusive tracks from some of the world’s finest artists. In this day and age to not only survive as an independent label, but also to flourish and constantly evolve, bringing forward new and exciting talent, is something that should be applauded. Anyone with even just a passing interest in quality electronic music needs to think very seriously before leaving this collection on the shelf.

    04. Kernel Key - Out of Body Experience [Octopus Recordings | OCT42]

One of our core roster artists, the superbly talented Italian man of mathematics and science,Kernel Key,has created an ambitious new ep for us.

The tracks ooze late night hysteria and big pressure drop techno physics.Bending the parameters of his incredibly high tech production suite,Kernel Key has effortlessly marked out a niche sound that stands unparalleled.Counting the likes of Hawtin,Dubfire,Sian,Joris Voorn and Digweed amongst his fans, the fast rising techno boffin is currently aflame.

    05. Simon Vuarambon - Inverted Pole (Luis Junior Remix) [Flow Vinyl | FV045]

Flow Vinyl keep up the pressure with a new artist to the label, Simon Vuarambon. Originally from Geneva and now based in Argentina, this young producer has already begun to make a name for himself with his first releases. Flow Vinyl always have a keen eye for new talent, so Simon is a perfect addition to the label.

‘Inverted Pole’ is a growling monster of a track with a throbbing bassline, rolling percussion and delicate, atmospheric synth lines. It holds the tension without ever going overboard, and locks the listener into its hypnotic groove. There’s a nod to the early days of progressive house in the swing of the track which is sure to find favour with new and seasoned clubbers alike.

The work of this relative newcomer is completed by two well-known names supplying the remixes. First up is Luis Junior, and the Spaniard provides an extra boost of big room energy by ramping up the synths to dramatic effect before gently bringing the dance-floor back to earth.

Oliver Deutschmann, meanwhile, goes deeper and darker, stripping the track back to its basics, and giving it an eerie, dreamlike quality. This is proper late night/early hours action with the characteristic dubby vibe he brings to his extended sets at Berghain and across the globe. Top quality on all fronts.

    07. Tom Middleton - Penrose Steps [Ovum Recordings | OVM-226]

As we head into fall Ovum Recordings keep the hits coming. Having bathed in the deepness of Nico Lahs we were then moved to get sweaty and get down with Technasia’s “Bastille Days.” Today we come with yet more freshness with the diverse new ep from the legendary Mr Tom Middleton.

Tom is a true electronic luminary. From his partnership with Mark Pritchard as Reload, Global Communication, Jedi Knights and Secret Ingredients to his own solo work, Tom has always pushed the boundries of dance music whether it be ambient, techno, electro, funk, and house. A true master of his game, we are honoured to welcome him as the newest member of the Ovum family.

This new release initially came together off the back of the A side track “Penrose Steps". Tom gave the track to Josh and it instantly became one of the biggest tracks in his sets, never leaving his bag. In true Ovum style, we were keen to bag a B Side with a completely different feel. We went back and forth for quite some time and as Tom set about working on a production we all lost a very dear friend and colleague, Kenny Hawkes. The aptly named “Hawkes Groove” is an amazing ode to a truly talented producer and DJ and we are so happy to be bringing it to you.

Digweed and Muir's Raise is awesome, one of their recent stuff I'm liking more.

Streamed Quivver's mix this morning, sounded all over the place to me, maybe I was just distracted.

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.
