Re: Blackberry 10
Fresh off its developer conference, filled with cheery rhetoric from the leadership team and a demonstration of the capabilities of its next-generation BlackBerry 10 operating system, the company posted a fiscal second-quarter loss of $235 million, or 45 cents a share. That's a reversal from the profit of $329 million, or 63 cents a share, it posted a year ago.
Its revenue plunged 30 percent to $2.9 billion from $4.17 billion a year ago

Re: Blackberry 10
No surprise there.
There was a time when the Blackberry Curve was the highest selling phone in North America, beating even the iPhone. They are sinking to new lows today, so that loss isn't a real surprise.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: Blackberry 10
I really hope RIM pulls out a show-stopper with their next phone. I think they can do it, but will the public embrace it? That's the tricky part. They had the original smartphone/email device, its a shame how much the company has fallen since their inception. But that's what happens when you don't adapt or think your email machines can ward off a change in trend in the industry. They thought it would, but it obviously didn't.Comment

Re: Blackberry 10
I loved my Bold when I had it but the OS is too shit for anything but BBM and crappy text only email. No way whatever what they do will ever bring them back. iOS and Android are way too ahead, just look at how far behind MS is from them, and this is going to have a way smaller market share than MS. Too bad.Comment

RIM doesn't have a boat, they're clinging on by life vests at this moment.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: Blackberry 10
And whatsapp is working with some carriers to provide free texting services so BBM is gonna be dead.
On a different note I really like the Windows OS on phones, they seem to be pulling ahead of iOS.

Re: Blackberry 10
Ugh I hate the tiles of Windows phone 7 & 8.
Blackberry 10 should have a lot of nifty new takes on certain things. I Like the peeking and notification taskbar you can easily slide to see what new msgs, emails, FB updates, etc are coming in instead of closing out the page/app you are on to get back to your main inbox. You can add apps to this notification center and customize it with what apps you want.
They should also be able to run ANY android app with the build in container, so they will have access to all BB10 apps and all Android Apps, which is great.
I also like the partitioning of the phone software, so you can have a work side, and a home side. You can set it up for work and keep everything seperate from the home side without interfering all your after-work apps and things you enjoy doing. Then when you leave the company, they can just 'wipe' the work side and only delete sensitive company data/apps and leave the rest of your phone alone. So you can easily bring your own device to work, and your work's IT department can still sleep at night easily knowing they can wipe it of all important stuff in need be.
I think it will quickly become the best work/home combo device. Most phones these days do either one of those very good, but not both. I think BB10 will be the first phone people want to easily integrate work/home life into 1 phone. All companies I've worked with in the past, I had to carry around two phones. One for work since I was on-call 24/7, and then my personal phone. It'll be nice not having to stuff my pockets with 2 phones!
That's if RIM can stay afloat until then. They do have a large cash balance, available and open credit lines, and they continue to sell phones to the crappy 3rd world countries like butter. Only a few more months to go!
More competition the better, it keep's everyone on their toes and keeps making each other constantly evolving their products to make them the best. I love it!Comment
