I live on 7th and Bixel which is 2 blocks west of 7th/Figuroa. On 7th, between bixel and Lucas, there are 2 or 3 motels which are all under 40$. Location is okay, not dangerous at all just alot of nasty people.
any other clubs people can suggest, or if anyone knows of stuff going on, let me know
Spundae on Sunset Blvd, its a great/friendly venue as well with a huge smoking patio. U can check for the line-ups mid-april here http://www.spundae.com/fls/la.html and if u're still up for an after-hour (if there is one), U should go to Avalon after Spundae...crazy...I always used to do that and on sunday, u're pretty much dead
Spundae is not on Sunset. It's on Santa Monica Blvd. I'd listen to Esef and try to stay in West Hollywood. Everything else will be too far if you plan to sight see and club.
^^Oops yeah cuz I used to come from Sunset Blvd n going toward Santa Monica Blvd. Thatz y I got lost all the time jk
Anyway, Peloquin hope u'll have a fun time with ur gf
A car is a must in LA, it is really sprawled out and there public transportation is not a good option. Hollywood is where it's at but if you're there for a few days try to get out of town and check out Malibu, simply amazing!
if i were you i'd stay in santa monica. that's probably the best spot. close to the airport, rigth next to the beach, not that far from hollyweird. plus santa monica has decent little clubs and bars.
yeah, santa monica's a great place to stay. plenty of stuff to do there.
the 14th will be the saturday we are there, im hoping something good gets announced for spundae, although i'd like to check out avalon, im just not a huge timo maas fan unfortunately. i bookmarked that board, thanks for posting the info.
I recommend that you use Priceline to book your hotel room(s). You can find out what winning bids are at sites such as http://www.biddingfortravel.com .
I'm guessing you can get a 3* hotel in the $50 range. Maybe lower, depending on the dates and area.
The first time I used Priceline, I got a 3-star 1-br suite outside of Seattle for $33. The desk clerk told one customer the lowest that the prices for the rooms go down to was $129. I laughed...
saw some good prices on there. i think i would like to (as suggested) stay in the west hollywood area, i just dont know how large that area is, and only a couple of the travel sites gave me the option to narrow it down that much.
as an example, how close to "everything" is 321 NORTH VERMONT AVE
i looked on a map, and didnt see the street names mentioned in this thread. the deal i found for that location is very good pricewise, and i will add a rental car to it. it says 4 miles from beverly hills and 10 miles from airport.... for an LA noob, is this a good location or am i going to get lost trying to find places?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's a pretty ghetto location. But it is close to Sunset Blvd and the Hollywood area. One thing about LA...you definitely will need a car. I like the Santa Monica area as far as locations go...especially by the 3rd Street.
"The reason I keep insisting that there was a relationship between Iraq and Saddam and al Qaeda, because there was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda."
-don't stay near the airport. that's wack. stay in Hollywood, or maybe Santa Monica as some have suggested.
-BIG YES to renting a car. It's essential. "Nobody walks in L.A."
-I'm PMing you with details of a Friday night party called Basic that you must attend. It's every other Friday night; fortunately you will be there the weekend it happens.
